iNVAR Posted August 2, 2010 Share Posted August 2, 2010 The parts thqat make a full exhaust system include a downpipe, mid and y, plus cans. If you want free flow, might as well change out the 2.5 inch stock system and go full 3 inch. But leaving evrything else stock while changing the cans will not make the exhaust system more free flowing. It will just be a stock system with bigger or cooler looking cans.The stock system is actually narrower than 2.5" from what I've read here. More like 1.8" I think someone once said. The guy I bought them from said the wife actually didn't mind the sound so I figured I'd buy them and see what I thought (got a good deal). Inside my car it's not very loud...hardly any drone, but that's because I left the mid/Y stock. Nah, I welded up my own straight pipes.. I also welded up the midpipe.. My bumper was turning black because of the exhaust so I wanted to find something to prevent that from happening.. It was a pain to scrub the bumper everytime I washed the car. Believe it or not, they're just universal plastic mudflaps that I cut up and screwed to the exhaust cut-out in the bumper.. I am looking at swapping a setup from a 05 wagon into my 05 sedan. should be the same. if the tips were designed for a wagon they'll stick out a little past your bumper. when you say turbo-back i'm assuming you're talking about the downpipe, too. if so, that will swap as well as long as they are the same transmission. the AT and MT pipes are bent a little differently. the AT pipe will work on both AT/MT (but you need to make an extension bracket if you put an AT pipe on a MT) but the MT pipe will bump the AT tranny and not fit properly. I have a gutted dp, resonator delete, and straight pipes in place of the mufflers but stock all in between and it just seems a little too poppy and ricey for mild acceleration, but screams like a deamon at WOT! I was thinking of having a 3" made all the way so it's uniform but wondering what it sounded like first if anyone has a setup like that or can get a sound clip if they have it.
