A buddy has a ’98 Outback and few years ago he put a new better stereo in his car but kept the OEM stereo. Yesterday he gave me the ’98 radio. The old one was a salvage yard replacement for the dead one that was in the car when I bought it. And none of the lights worked. So at night there was no clock/channel display or lit buttons.

Spent the weekend in Paradox Co.. There are old 4x4 mining exploration roads all over Paradox. The Subaru had fun, so did I.

Hi Kiyo1990, Yeah It was a great weekend. This area is covered with old abandoned uranium, copper, gold and silver mines. And it’s pretty remote wilderness, full of canyons and mesas and great old roads that go to nowhere. It’s a pretty amazing area to explore.

The rear tires were well worn and i had ripped the sidewall of one of the fronts. Oops. So it was time for 4 new summer tires: Firestone Winterforce M+S 205/70r15's. It's the biggest tire with the most aggressive tread i could find to fit.

Craigslist acquisitions for the Legacy:

Outback Front seats

Outback Rear sway bar

Yakima Roof Rack

And yesterday i picked up a Yakima BasketCase and fairing for $60.00 from Craigslist.

Craigslist find: The guy was selling parts individually.

Installed: The basket just happened to fit perfectly in between the bars. Giving it a nice lower profile. And instead of using the Yakima factory wing-nuts to secure it, I used a washer and double-hex nut with Loctite Red. It shouldn't move.

Hi All, Just bought a used rim from the salvage yard for ($50.00) and I had 1 remaining tire from last summer that was still in good condition. So now I have a decent spare tire. I was always a little worried about being far off-road and having to get back on the doughnut-spare. The new spare was the main reason for the Yakima Basket. The 205/70 R15s won't fit in the spare tire well.

You can see i have also mounted the I-beam mast for the big jack.

Original wheels and tires that came with the car: 185/70 R14

And now i have a trunk.

Hi --thanks for the comment. Yes, they are wired to the blinker circuit on each side.

EDIT> Just tested the side marker light full operation with the wires i used:

> Side marker lights are ON with the running lights ON

> And blink opposite the front blinker bulb with the turn signal and running lights ON

> Side marker lights are OFF with the running lights OFF

> And blink in sync with the front blinker bulb with the turn signal and running lights OFF

by chance, it's the way i hoped they would work. But, I thought I'd have to use a double filament bulb to accomplish the same thing.

The top surface of rear bumper was pretty scratched and nicked up, so i decided to paint it. But what to use? At the local hardware store I found Non-Skid Krylon...Black, of course. Lets see how it holds up.

Why is a lifted AWD Legacy a great mountain car?

Because, in the middle of the summer we get: Sleet, freezing rain, flash floods and mud slides. Like we're getting today!

Hey –Thanks andnyleswillriot. Telluride is a pretty awesome place to live. This Subaru does great on the Jeep roads. Last summer I drove it to the top of Imogene Pass 13,114 feet, up a very rough road. And it did great. Go for it, have some fun with your Subaru! Edited by swcolegacyl
