legacygirl06
i'm interested in coilovers but dont know much about them and dont wanna spend a bunch of money. any suggestion or help??
whitetiger
dont wanna spend a bunch of money. Well, then i recommend you go for a good spring /strut combo like Koni's and rallitek springs or epic springs. coilovers for around $1k are junk unless you like a crap ride that's height adjustable. bmx045
koni's are a good choice. however my oem strut/rallitek spring combo rode like asshole compared to my BC's on soft setting. vast improvement.
legacygirl06
right now i have tein s tech springs with the stock struts. i want to go lower. way lower.
whitetiger
you do realize that there isnt that much more suspension travel to go lower. you are gonna need some very stiff coilovers with custom rates to go lower and not hit the bumpstops, and it will be very stiff. you will spend lots of money to accomplish this. legacygirl06
i just want to go maybe an inch lower. i was thinking of just cutting my stock springs and putting them on every once and awhile.
joeblow
Cutting the springs is definitely the way to go. It only takes an hour or two, and you can super slam your ride. And the best part is that its completely safe. It's cool; I'm with the band

Penguin
Cutting the springs is definitely the way to go. It only takes an hour or two, and you can super slam your ride. And the best part is that its completely safe. It also has the advantage of more or less maintaining the stock spring rate so the ride quality is retained. Definitely should be on the short list of easy do it yourself mods, all you need is a hacksaw and some time.

joeblow
Completely serious. I cut my springs and it handled like a beast in auto-x. The lowered center of gravity really helped. The stock spring rates made the car a little wobbly through turns because they're softer than I would have liked. The dealership had no idea that anything was modified when I took it in for blown struts under warranty. http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/flat4LGT/20110820_SUBARU_Challenge_0182.jpg Totally not serious by the way.
