triple_B
Hey all, in the below links you will find videos showing the rotational movement of my front drivers side stock caliper. I compressed the caliper cyclinders and put in old pads to create space to show extreme rotation. with good pads and compressed cyclinder the caliper will still rotate a bit. I am getting quite a bit of wobble and steering wheel gerk when on the track. the wobble worsens as a session progresse, as if heat buildup makes it worse. any ideas? has the caliber warped/ stretched after two years of hard lapping days? or are the guide pins toast? I use Cryo rotors and hawk DTC-70 pads. im a really late hard braker. my pads last a long time and ive never boiled fluid. rotors get hot though. after a 20 min track session and a one lap cool down of 4 minutes the rotors can be 800*. thanks for any info [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTw2vTZwkYs]2007 Legacy GT front caliper guide pin rotation top/inside - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ2o6x7T-d4]2007 Legacy GT front caliper guide pin move and rotation - YouTube[/ame]
jamal
good thing the caliper only squeezes the pad. The bracket is what holds them in place. I would consider new pins but it looks fine to me.
triple_B
true it does squeeze but when caliper squeezes pads I was curious if/how it could be jolted around and create vibration...which I am feeling. I change pads dozens of time a year (track pads) and over the last 20 years and I cant seem to recall that much play...but than again I cant recall being concerned. just curious if other recall such play (lol).
