SeanGulden
I was driving he last night and the car suddenly jerked violently. I pulled over to find that four lugs had snapped off, two on each of the rear wheels. The entire lugnut and studs are gone at the base of the wheel. I had just gotten new tires last Thursday. Apparently the morons that installed my tires overtightened them and they broke off under stress. My question, is this easily fixable? I'm having the car towed back to the place to give them hell for f'ing up first thing tomorrow.
1astrokeit
they shouldnt be that bad to install without taking brakes apart. depends if there is enough room in the back to put new stud
JonLGT
Studs are pretty easy to install, Ive changed 3 of them out from a similar situation.
Drift Motion
u should be able to drive on it... but replacing the studs isnt too hard take off the caliper, and rotor, it should be pretty easily visible
SeanGulden
Yeah, I need to replace my brakes anyway. Thanks for the replies.
devobuzz
The only problem I had was after hammering out the old studs and putting new ones in, the wheel bearings went out a few thousand miles later. I think hammering on the studs damaged the bearings.
SeanGulden
I did one better, I took it to a mechanic and had the tire shop foot the bill.
