wpgspecb
so I hit a pothole today, no damage to rim, nothing too crazy, woke up my daughter in the backseat though. After I wash the car I notice this..... http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/tiredamage/P1020172.jpg http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/tiredamage/P1020173.jpg http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/tiredamage/P1020174.jpg Ive got 24,000kms on the car, bought it new, do you think I could claim warranty on the tire? These are the original summer pontenza's. It seems like is punctured on the inside but the exterior shows no damage at all.. Its now unsafe to carry my daughter in. laz
You need a new tire, and I do not think that warranty will cover that, but who knows. Happened to me as well, luckily I was able to get some used Advans (2.5i stock tire) on fleabay for cheap and they had the same miles on it as the original. krzyss
Warranty usually does not cover road hazard. But it does not hurt to try. Time to buy 4 new tires or one shaved. Krzys
RJS5689
It's called a bubble. It's not at all uncommon. The only thing that will cover it is if you purchased a wheel and tire protection package. Make sure you either change all four tires or have the new one shaved to the correct diameter.
HarryN
Just get 4 brand new Eagle F1 tires. They are around $91 a tire on tirerack.com and very good quality. They surely beat the POS Bridgestone Potenza tires we get... Or you can get Toyo tires which are also great quality for a low price.
Waxiboy
^ ummmm, OP is on Potenza RE50's which IMO is not "crappy". To the OP, just replace all 4 tires. After 24K miles, I bet those tires are nearing the end of its life. Mine lasted thru 25K.

captainhook
As others have said, once you get a bubble, best replace the tire with a shaved one or a whole new set. A bubble doesn't necessarily always mean imminent failure though. My buddy drove 5K with a bubbled tire on his MS6 that looked identical to yours with no failure. (even though I told him he was a fool for doing so)
wpgspecb
IMO the RE050A is a great tire. Its got decent grip, and I'm quite happy. here is tire racks rating http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+RE050A&partnum=145YR8RE050A&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes Anyone have a single RE050 for sale? local dealer wants $330cdn for one, tire rack wants $200us, and another local dealer is doing a group buy from tirerack tomorrow so ill see what kinda price. What would be a superior summer only tire to replace this set? Im not keen (regardless of low cost) on replacing a $330 tire with a $90 tire. Im not keen (regardless of low cost) on replacing a $330 tire with a $90 tire. I recommend star spec's. Insane performance and great bang/buck ratio. I have plenty of friends that run them as summer street tires and absolutely love them. (they also won Tirerack's Extreme Summer Performance category in 08) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=Direzza+Sport+Z1+Star+Spec
