Compilation of cheap and/or free Legacy Mods

Driving the wifes Land Rover LR3 today I was reminded of the very faint LED light in the roof (near the map lights) that just barely lights up the center console. It's so faint it mimics moonlight and it's BAD@$$.

I don't know anything LED. Who can help with this?

Wifey's '09 and '13 FXT both have this from the factory. I'm somewhat jealous. :p

officially subscribing to this post. does anyone know how to set the auto day/night mirror to be automatically off? I can't see as well at night, and this would greatly improve my car for me.

On my car, which has a HomeLink Mirror, one just pushes a button to turn the auto/dim feature on/off. If yours doesn't have this, and it is important enough for your nighttime driving safety, you could install a HomeLink Mirror. They are available from Subaru and, I believe, are plug-and-play. Some cars require an adaptor mounting kit, also available from Subaru.

IIRC - On mine there's two buttons. One turns on/off the compass, the other turns on/off the mirror. Your owner's manual should explain how to turn each off.

^ My first thought was to put a piece of black electrical tape over the mirror sensor...and then I realized how stupid idea that would be, as it would render your mirror in "dark" mode almost always! Yeah, I can be pretty dense sometimes!

I've used (and currently still use, in my new Tribeca) the mirror's harness to get power for my SpeedCheetah GPS Mirror. This usually takes me a couple of minutes to play around in the car as I determine which pin slot does what, in terms of actually feeding uninterrupted but ignition-switched 12V power.

With that thought in-mind, I was wondering if you shouldn't just de-pin the two or three power wires feeding the mirror, and experiment with the final harness/pin combo that'll (hopefully) allow the HomeLink and compass functions to still be powered, but will cut the power feed to the mirror's light sensor......

If you have an old comfortable car seat laying around and an old broken office chair...for about $20 in hardware, you can make your own custom office chair...

Here is a link to mine. The chair is from my 05 LGT...I had an old office chair with adjustable arm rests...with a little fumbling and experimenting...you can replace the old uncomfortable office chair with your fully adjustable LGT ones...

I wish the plastic surrounds went all the way around the seat, but depending whether you use the driver or passenger seat, that side will be bare...not bad looking though...

My issue is the height...I'm 5'6" and my legs dangle...I feel like a little kid getting in and out of the chair...I need to modify the bracket to lower the height down a bit...

homelink has 2 sensors, front and rear. Light intensity is compared between the two so you were actually right. By blocking one of them you can control how mirror will react. If you block the rear facing sensor it will in theory put mirror in default/no tint mode

It's been added to my list of thing I need. I was looking for summer classes and will most likely be visiting the library to work done.

Have never gone to college since HS. I've been slacking big time. And I'm pursuing a career here at Chase,
