07 Spec B Clutch/FW Question.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I recently purchased an unmodified 07 LGT Spec B from my father. The car has about 98k on it and is still on the stock clutch. He purchased it new. I am planning on replacing the clutch soon and have used the search function extensively on the forum to figure out what clutch to go with.

I have settled on the Clutch Masters FX300 and a stock flywheel. My question is, and I have read conflicting reports, can I use an FX300 designed for the STi and an STi flywheel in the car? Seems like I can, but some say I can't.

Specifically I am looking at the following clutch and flywheel:

and

Hopefully these links work.

Thanks for your help!

STi flywheel bolts right up to the spec.b 6spd. I have had mine installed for a couple of years now. What I do not know is if the spec.b pressure plate would work with an sti clutch/flywheel so I'd recommend replacing that as well.

to be honest, I'd just recommend getting an entire STi clutch - flywheel, pressure plate, disk. You get OEM fitment parts that can handle plenty of torque. Mine has been holding 360wtq for awhile now. For reference, my oem spec.b clutch gave out with only 280wtq.

Thanks for responding. I forgot to specify that, I would get the entire kit with the pressure plate. I've had an EVO X GSR prior to this and that thing was a nightmare with eating clutches. Now I'm not the best with a manual transmission but I certainly do not want to go down that route again.
