subikid90
My coolant temp sensor went out, it is reading 233 degrees on my torque app on my phone. I have read that the coolant temp sensor has something to do with air/fuel ratio. Right now the car will not start, it wasnts to but just wont. My question is which one tells the ECU temp? Is it the one under the intake mani behind the alternator? Thanks, Kyle -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
KuNomn
There are 2, one is a 1 pin which controls the temperature guage and the other (the brown connector) goes to the ECU.
subikid90
Are they both right next to each other. The brown one is the one I was talking about under the intake mani. Sweet its only $26 bucks, I thought that was going to be much worse -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap

nvrgnadi
Question, could a coolant temp sensor that's not working, throw off the idle on a cold starting vehicle. My 05 LGT has a goofy idle that causes the car to drop rpm's so low that it feels like it's going to die, then jump up and back and forth. We've tried to tune it out by richening up the idle but it's still showing troubles, any ideas . . .please?
spooln30
Yes a faulty coolant temp sensor could cause a warm up running issue. It could be seeing a temp that is colder and dumping fuel to warm up the engine.
nvrgnadi
I'll keep an eye on my air/fuel gauge next time i start it up cold and see what it's doing. It does have STI injectors not sure if that would cause any issues and I dont think it would as it's been tuned to run with them.
