2006 Legacy GT Wagon - IPT VB at 56k, stock before

Modification: Full Exhaust, Turbo, Fuel, Meth, etc

Transmission Status: Okay so far

Driving habits: In traffic, slow and steady. Open Road/Canyons - Beat the piss out of it

Current Mileage: 78,xxx miles

Currently running Amsoil 5eat compatible ATF

Stock tranny replaced under warranty at 18k. 60K on second tranny. All but 14k at over 300WHP. Did the VB as extra insurance, was not slipping before the VB was installed. Still not slipping. Still expecting it to eat itself one day.

AME CAI

Cobb up

Cobb down

Cobb AP with TDC custom map

30k ATF fluid replaced

38k total miles and I drive very aggresive. Having done a 2.5k brake launch a month for the last year.

If it goes it goes.... you have to pay to play.

2005.5 Legacy GT Sedan - 5EAT

Modification: At 7000 miles- stage 1 installed.

At 12,000 miles- HKS up-pipe, Cobb Catted Down-pipe, Cobb OTS Stage 2 tune were all installed

Driving Habbits: Grandma driving 80% and then mildly aggressive for the remaining 20%.

Transmission Status : Okay

Current Millege: 24,000 miles (Don't drive much)

Maintenance: Tranny flush and fill with OEM ATF at 20k. Plan to do tranny flush and fill at 30k with Amsoil ATF.

<---- Still researching alternatives in case something happens. Only real options are IPT rebuild or STi swap. Both should be around $6000 installed :-/

Dont we already have at least one of these threads already?

I searched before, but I couldn't find the actual # of 5EAT failure we had. Do you have a number in your mind by any chance? 10 in this forum?

That's why I started this poll.

2005 Legacy GT Sedan Lmtd 5EAT

Modifications:

Stg 1 ran for 2 weeks

Stg 2 at 12K miles = gutted OEM uppipe, midpipe, downpipe, TDC stg 2 tune 93

Stg 3 at 23 K with STI swap = SPT catback, custom downpipe, SPT intake/heatshield, VF39, STI intake manifold, STI TMIC, crank pulley, tuned by Jarrad @ PDX

Raced one full season autox on stg 2, 8 events, drag racing 6 events, power launched and drove like a crazy person for approx 11K miles.

STI swap done approx 23K miles. shortly after the swap experience gear slippage and upgraded to IPT VB at 24K miles. Ran another full season of autox and drag, 8 events each, power braking to 4000 rpms, etc. Car runs great so far, but do not recommend doing what I did. I believe the cooler dry temps and low sea level elevation helps prolong the life of the car.

If I were keeping it, I would expect the tranny to eventually go out with the driving style and tracking of the car.

Currently at 46K miles.

Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!

we have a thread but i dont think it came with a poll.. this one has more options

05 LGT sedan

42k miles

cobb stage 1 93 octane tune since around 10-15k miles

3 sets of tires so.. driving would be in the "road demon/lunatic" category.. but I'm careful... mostly..

no problems yet *crossfingers*

I voted Stage 2+ and fine, but I also had transmission slippage once going with 20g set-up. I got the IPT VB and slippage was resolved. Time will tell if this is a long term fix or a bandaid.

Stock for 10K, Harman pro-tuned stage-2 25K, 20g 10K

I drive the car hard when traffic allows, some canyon runs, no track time, and no power braking

Transmission mods: cooler, IPT VB, and use BG additive. All of this after going 20g. In hindsight should have done at Stage-2
