Hey everyone,

I purchased this car around July of 2015 after selling my '09 2.5i. This is my daily driver so I don't intend on anything too crazy in terms of mods but I do plan keeping it fun to drive daily. Really just catching up on the some of the remaining maintenance. I have already replaced most of the fluids minus the coolant.

When I found her she needed a little work due to a damaged midpipe and some new brakes. Other than a few dings here and there, she was otherwise fine and I got a killer deal on her.

Pics from the previous owner before me attached.

Installed the Group N transmission mount and the Energy Suspension 19.1103G bushings this evening. Old mount and bushings had 89k on it.

Everything I read about the Group N mount is true. It really helped make the shifts feel more linear and the power more connected to the car. NVH is really minimal, only noticeable difference is in 2nd hear around 4k RPMs. Sounds angry but it is also 36 degrees F here in Utah at the moment.

Good mod for the price.

I followed the instructions here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1334367&page=2

Installed the Rear Differential Insert Bushings(Prothane 16-1610-BL) the other night. I followed the guide here: http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/forums/diy-write-ups-and-faq/161982-diy-08-sti-rear-subframe-bushings-diff-inserts.html

Totally was not a pleasant experience. Took me about 2.5 hours due to nuts/bolts that have probably never been moved since they were attached.

Really have not driven around too much but the only immediate difference I noted was less of the lag and sputter when putting it into first. Seemed smoother.

Just my daily driver for now. We do have some fun areas here in Utah to go on a "spirited" ride but I have noticed that even with the stock Bilstiens, there is some improvement to be made.

Been too cold to be in the garage and with Christmas approaching, I have had to just stare at the pieces. I aim to do the engine mounts and sways next. It has been nice to go slow on the install though so I can appreciate what each piece does.

I am actually on the fence if I should the shifter bushings. Since I have done the transmission mount, it resolved my issues with the mushy shifting and it did increase NVH enough to think that with adding the Polyurethane rear shifting bushing to the mix, it might be too much NVH...

Got the AVO Rear braces, the Kartboy endlinks and the AVO rear sway installed last night.

Overall the install wasn't so bad. About 2.5 hours. As you can see, things are still salty and cold here in Utah.

Was a little disappointed with the shipping on the rear sway. The box was absolutely destroyed by the time it reached my house. The paint on the rear sway flaked off more than I would have liked as well just from the install. Definitely seems like the rear brackets had a better paint application than the sway.

After the install, I had a little mini autocross session in my work parking lot. Rear feels a lot more planted and a lot of the roll from the stock setup is gone. Very happy with the end result.

I used the following guides for this install:

It looks like you installed the 5mt group-N mount vs the 6mt version. They do have a 6mt version which is the same height as the stock tranny mount. I made the mistake of ordering the 5mt one. When to install it I was curious why it was so much taller so I did some searching and discovered the difference. I ordered mine off AVO Japan and it said STi 6-speed on their site, but what I got was not the right size.

I guess it still works, it probably just reduces under body ground clearance at the transmission brace by a smidgen.

I hope that's not true! This is part number I ordered: D1010FE000. Seemed to be the same size when I was comparing them. Now I am curious if I can read the part number off of it...

EDIT: @PeterJMC: You're totally right! I guess I will have to head down to RallySport this weekend... Thank you so much for your comment! Goes to show to double check everything you receive online!

nice build thread! subscribed...

if you wouldnt mind to clarify, you did order the correct part number D1010FE000 for the trans mount, but they shipped you the wrong one? I will be picking one up here real soon want to make sure I get that right. Thanks!

That's correct. I am hoping that they will take the return but if not, I will resell the mount.

If you get it and on the mount it has a 41022FA080 number printed on it, then that's the 5MT.

EDIT: They wouldn't take the return because I installed it. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Subaru-Group-speed-mount-WRX/dp/B00C0TISZI][/ame]

Looks like I have some oil leaks. Both valve covers have a small leak, oil cooler o-ring has developed a decent leak and there's some seepage near the timing cover so likely a cam or crank seal as well.

Based off that looks I'm doing the timing belt service early and fixing some leaks!

Been a busy few weeks.

Installed the AVO front sway bar, Kartboy front endlinks and Prothane steering rack bushings(pain in the a$$).

I had a local shop(Despain Auto in West Valley) replace the leaky valve cover gaskets, replace the leaky o-ring at the oil cooler, remove both banjo filters, replace the PCV, install the front control arm bushings(Whiteline KCA334 and W0506), timing belt service using the Gates TCK328 kit, Tomei belt guide, OEM water pump, OEM thermostat, replace leaky cam and crank seals, new Gates accessory belts and a fresh oil change adding a Dimple magnetic oil drain plug.

Car no longer leaks anywhere!

Powerwise, there is a noticeable difference. Everything just seems so much smoother and tighter. More responsive.

Handlingwise, steering feels much lighter and direct. Car feels planted on the roads in a very controlled manner.

I will try to get some more pics once it is warmer outside and I can actually give my car a bath. :)

Noticed that the rear AVO sway bar has a lot of surface rust and paint flaking after only 3 months. The AVO front sway and the AVO reinforcement brackets do not exhibit this.

Kind of bummed... Sent an email last week to AVO but have not heard back yet. Seems like the powder coat just didn't stick well.

Installed some interior LEDs I bought off Amazon for $12. Really sharpened up the interior. Hopefully they last.

Just an update.

I did hear back from AVO. They will replace the sway under warranty. I am just waiting until they get some in the US. Glad they came through.

I installed some Hella Horns I had laying around. Definitely one of those things I appreciate every time I use my horn.

I also got my front CV axle replaced with one from Raxles. Quality is very high on these units and the customer service was great. Highly recommend.

Still have my Group N engine mounts laying around to be installed.

AVO rear sway replacement finally arrived. Could already tell this one had a much better paint job.

Decided to clear out the headlights as well. Still need to replace the amber bulbs. Thinking about the Diode Dynamics switchbacks but waiting for a sale so I can get the HID kit too. [emoji2]
