Why did the US get shafted on the 08 legacy GT front end

I really think the US Legacy GT 08 look is kinda weird, it looks like some sort of demented guppy. I still like the car but i'm confused.

Safety regulations between the two countries are different, maybe that bumper requires a different beam in front..

i dunno i like the usdm one better

In short: Durn Canucks.

 

Canada has 5 mph front bumper requiement, while everyone else including U.S. has 3 mph (5 km/h).

 

For 2008+ they tried to shorten the bumper and make it look close to JDM GT bumper, nevertheless they failed. Still ugly, but perhaps not as much as 05-06 front bumper.

i like the 08 usdm bumper. The grille is out of place on it

The '08 USDM bumper actually looks similar to the JDM spec B bumper. The proportion is still not as good as the JDM bumper but it's much better than the '05-'07 USDM bumper.

 

Besides you can always import the '08 JDM version from japanparts. It's going to be $$$$ though.

I love the grille on the aussie front end. Wish that front fit the '06...

The top picture in the first post is for the spec B's in Australia. All other Liberties have a nose that looks like the second picture.

that's a 04-06 JDM Subaru Legacy Blitzen Edition Front Bumper. i think it's better in red. looks a bit ridiculous in white.

You guys are arguing about the bumper???? I thought this thread would be about how hideously huge the grill opening is compared to the 05s and the ugly, revised grill wings. Ugh. Forget the bumper. No matter what you do to the bumper, the tall grill opening will always make the newer cars look like carps.

 

That is, unless you have the honeycomb "flush grill" as in post 18. That is very nice looking.

maybe put a super tall FMIC ? something like this big, thatll fill the opening in the bottom and the big opening up top lol

well, of course, the USDM stuff always get ruined cause they need to be a bit bigger. and if that FMIC was big AND thin enough in the JDM front bumper, that'd be real cool.

i have to admit that the aussie bumper is nice but i've grown to really like the 08 front too. i would choose my 08 over my old 07. i nearly didn't get an 08 at first cause i thought the front was ugly but now.. i higly doubt i would go back. maybe it's the color..

Keep blaming us and I will take a minute to wish bad things upon you, like someone backing into one of your headlights, then you'd wish your bumper was higher too
