keenster
I don't want to launch my car but I figure might as well do it now if there's gonna be more power. It's a cheap insurance. Because the needles bearing have know to go "ka-blooey" Here's the needle bearings http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/8efc99cae94bddc90d7356289b14fa86.jpg
keenster
Mother of Christ!! Was torquing the water pump bolt to 8.9 ft-lbs and I felt a pop. And not the good pop from the torque wrench. Wtf wtf wtf! Let the drama begin. If there is a god, please no waspy. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/1dbc554367e58a88d14af21dec0310f3.jpg

MrTris
How did it shear off? If there is even a slight edge in the center of that bolt, you should be able to reach in with an appropriately small flat screwdriver and just turn it out. There's no tension on it, so, don't freak out, yet.
Max Capacity
Those threads look really flat, did you pull the threads out ? Time to drill it out and put a insert in there. keenster
Yup i drill it out and tapped it to a M7 X 1 which is the max size you can send through the water pump. But I made some progress on it today. Old next to new http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/9a4811167a04cba7d5cfb47e4c0a7a25.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/314e710f20c7a3619c98b772c09b56cd.jpg Killer B oil baffle and pick up. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/960b3744267c35be84d6ede1244b080e.jpg ARP head studs. Assembly grease on stud, on both sides of the washers, and on nut. Torque in sequence 30-60-90-90 http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/978bfaa8a2a232297132516249172f19.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/41a8acd59a818ebf0a9346095c7ec8b2.jpg I also put on the cam position sensors, crank sensor, OCVs, and a few other little things. And as much as I hated to stop I had to call it day. My little fort I made at the shop http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/10/fc98e1216a2eb189d83ba3b59218be8a.jpg

keenster
I have the sti oil pump so I ran into the same problem cloudseed did. The coolant crossover pipe bracket didn't match so I made a little mark on the bracket and smashed it down in the vise. Almost looks like it was made that way. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/11/63dbf6ded34b0473ffaa6ffe0cd37786.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/11/b876b4001194005820632adc5065d51d.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/11/e21e29b7d02622e9a341ec58929ec24b.jpg
keenster
As it comes to my surprise, I have a shit cam gear. This is what a normal cam gear looks like on the inside. Note that the middle hole at 12 o'clock is the hole where the pin goes into. All together we have 5 holes. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/11/a165c1e306ad2b885391069f9c6d2325.jpg This one shit out so much, it filled in the hole to the right with material and hollered out where the bolt goes through. Time for a new cam gear. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/11/f11c879ef7bcc1a1a8c58983d8fd3993.jpg This has taught me a great lesson on inspecting everything before it goes back on your engine. I was lucky to even catch this. Edited April 17, 2015 by keenster

MrTris
Switch back to the stock headers and throw those cheap ones away. Doesn't matter what brand, I can tell from the welds on those, they're garbage.

Doesn't matter what brand, I can tell from the welds on those, they're garbage. I checked it over repeatedly. Especially after I found that cam gear all mangled up. but heres some reviews on it. I wanna at least try them out. Not doubting your expertise, just going with what I see. I'll take some pics when I get to the shop. http://www.importimageracing.com/agency-power-unequal-length-header-subaru-wrx-sti-2002-2014.html

They goto the scrap dumpster. There's a reason so many of us don't have headers, the least of which is the cost-benefit and high price of admission. Good headers are about $800 to start. The KB HHs are nearly 2x that.
keenster
Talked to Mike at Infamous Yesterday and I want to give a HUGE shout out to him. He answered all my questions. Took his time helping me and not once rushed me. I've also ordered 80% of my parts from him and even annoyed the hell out of him for that Ven Air bpv hose. He goes out of his way to help you. Just wanted to thank him publicly and would recommend him to anyone. Edited April 14, 2015 by keenster

Nightmaresmk
I have the equal length version of that header. they are decent for what they are. get it ceramic coated and take it apart and use copper or red mr gasket in the crevasse and no leaks and no weld. mine doesn't leak from their at all. my leak is either the turbo to up or the up pipe flex. keenster
Wrapped my wiring harness today. And soldered in my pig tails for my DW injectors. I think this is gonna clean up the engine bay real nice. I think I'm also gonna do this to the battery terminals and any other wires under the hood. I went right over the old factory plastic crap so I don't lose any kind of heat protection. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/20/81410e95f8b4f621673d03a410f91638.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/20/008ce19d237920c815402c871452dc3b.jpg
MrTris
Fancy. I just used electrical tape over the old stuff, which, is essentially cheap electrical tape. There are colors to choose from, as well!
