dylanwaible
Went down to O'Reilly's because the CEL was on. They pulled the codes and its got a misfire in cylinder 3 and 4. What good news right? besides something internal could it be something else?
Frank B
Ignition coil or plug wires would be my guess. Start with some new spark plugs and plug wires, it won't hurt it to tune it up.
dylanwaible
I have new NGK wires but I'll check the plugs and coil! Wouldn't it be nice if it was that simple?
Byll
Just had to have the coil changed on our daughter's '97 GT wagon. First thing that ever left her sit - in 125,000 miles. And it died in the driveway of our home. Convenient. Cheers. Byll
silverone
miss fires can also be an injector problem, or a vacume leak.
SpecBamf41
or bad carbon build up on valves. edit, looking to my left, that damn intercooler could not fit the front off that car any better. better then clothed porn. BNR18g on 93oct

dylanwaible
The check engine light blinks and keeps blinking and it can't accelerate for shit. Even when I floor it. Definitely not firing on all 4 cylinders. Then when the light stops blinking and is on solid it will run fine.. This went from happening once a month to once a week then when it happened two days in a row i brought it to a guy who does good work for cheap so I should know the diagnosis tomorrow
silverone
I'm not sure how big of a job this on a subie, but try swapping an injector with a cyl that's not missing to one that you know is , if the misfire follows the injector then you've got a bad injector. Could just be something as simple as a seal. Also take a can of carb cleaner spray it every where theres a vacume hose withthe engine running if your idle changes you've got a leak. Good luck! imfamousG
Is it hard to change the ignition coil? And I don't think it's a vacuum leak how can I be sure? But if you could post what that guy says it might be that would be great:)
monkeyposeur
It's easy to change your ignition coil. It's the black thing that your spark plugs connect to on top of your intake manifold. But do everything else everyone has told you first.

imfamousG
Well then should I try and fix/change everything or just save the money and buy a JDM EJ25?
monkeyposeur
The wiring is probably different on a JDM EJ25 so it might not be a plug and play swap. If you are unable to fix your current problem, it may not be prudent to attempt a whole engine swap. Try and fix it first and if you realize that your engine is toast, then do a swap. At the very least you will learn a lot.
imfamousG
Well I was just considering a swap since not to long ago I had a blown head(s) so I used this blue devil stuff and it's fixed.... For now so what do you think and how hard would it be to get the wires to work?
