meier motor sports
i have a crazy amount of engine oil that leaks from somewhere on top of the engine block. i had the intake manifold off to inspect it and couldnt see anything obvious. i assumed one of the hoses for the pcv had cracked and was leaking. this afternoon i attempted to replace the pcv valve assy in the street and see ill have to remove the intake manifold for better access and i dont feel like starting that in the sun and in the street. the intercooler to throttle body hose clamp decided to fall apart, so that great. ill pick up a new clamp this evening and get the car moved for street cleaning tomorrow 9am anyways the oil leak has been getting worse and worse where ever its coming from, the entire top side of the block is wet with oil and it tends to run down around the right side by the turbo. any ideas
DuckDynasty7
check the breather hoses coming off the cylinder head, a small crack will cause oil to leak like crazy
Moderators BarManBean Posted June 9, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2016 two oil galleys on the top of the motor, or PCV system. Are you sure it's engine oil? Possible that it's power steering fluid? "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock

meier motor sports
thanks, im guessing just copper washers?
Moderators BarManBean Posted June 12, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 12, 2016 If you are referring to the galley plugs, they actually use aluminum washers. "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock
alex0856
Currently experiencing the same issue, I think it fried my knock sensor because I'm getting high amounts of false knock when shifting (5MT). Mine looks like this on the top of the block. Is this an oil galley plug? The PCV is dry so I know it's not coming from there. http://i.imgur.com/TvDEDtGh.jpg
meier motor sports
mine is very similar. id take a picture but is 1 am, iv been drinking and i left my car at work. the oil is concentrated by the pcv and im also getting oil all through the intake system. i thought i had bad rings and excessive blow-bye but a harbor freight leakdown tester says all is good and a quality matco compression tester shows i forget what exactly(see above) but like 125psi compression all cylinders
alex0856
How much leakdown do you have? Anything over 10% is cause for concern. Which cylinder had 125psi? Found mine. This curly-Q crankcase vent hose was cracking where it connects to the block as shown in my pic. I have blowby in my system because forged pistons, so my thinking is that it made its way to this hose and simply leaked out from here. http://i.imgur.com/5ZvzO3Qh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cEaVsvah.jpg
meier motor sports
thats what i was expecting but like i said i couldnt get enough access for a quick repair. ill have to take the intake off i think to get to it
alex0856
I didn't need to remove my intake manifold to get to it. Just had to take off the intercooler and squeeze my hands and some long pliers in there.
SpecFast
Could possibly be the oil feed line, I just recently had the same issue with an oil leak from that particular area.
