2006 Outback SpecB 3.0R...

Meet LLGreen. European styling/handling was the inspiration to add onto Subaru's AWD, body styling, and under-rated H6.

A lot of research came from the club liberty forums and of course here on legacygt. Always loved the 05-09 outback/legacy body styling but was never interested in the turbo maintenance of the GT. Hated the ride height of the outback (wagons belong on the ground) and was always inspired by BMW's sweet suspension setup. So finally found an H6 that was very well taken care of and had low miles (39k at the time, 74k now). This was the end result.

Parts list...

Transmission... 5eat shift kit (My favorite mod!), tranny cooler & bypass

Engine... Redline Hood Struts

Suspension... Konis with lgt springs, wl offset lca, wl roll center kit, wl rear camber, avo brackets, wl front/rear sways, wl offset front tophats, wl rear trailing arm bushings, wl steering rack bushings, kartboy endlinks (what can I say whiteline makes great stuff)

Alignment... Caster 7.4deg / Camber -1.6degF/-0.8degR / Toe 0 around

Ride Height measured hub to fender (14.375"F/14.375"R)... rear fenders rolled

Brakes... Full lgt swap (my 2nd fav mod) with centric rotors & stop tech pads

Wheels/tires... Enkei ekm3 (18x7.5 45offset) with 225/45/18 General GMax AS03

Exhaust... Magnaflow mufflers with turndowns for oem appearance (H6 has such a nice sound)

Exterior... Custom front grill (DIY), debadged, Tinted windows/sunroof, hella twin tones, jdm rain visors

Interior... Jazzy audio aux, sub upgrade, bluetooth interface, led footwells/door handles/center console, maplight mod, drl disabled, independent foglight mod, specB pedal kit, jdm dual console

Tune... fully tuned (AVCS, fueling, timing, DBWmaps)

Special thanks to Climber for the VB tut/inspiration (http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/valve-body-mods-giant-leaps-forward-160101.html) and Infamous Performance for their great service (http://www.infamousperformance.net/servlet/StoreFront)!

Looks good man. Do you have more pics of the grill?

NP rester... It's the same DIY that others have done with the mesh but I'll certainly snag one for you.

Edit... here you are... I basically gutted the middle slats out, reconstructed the sides with fiberglass and bondo, sanded it down and painted, got mesh and formed it to the grill surround and epoxied it, lastly took the emblem and fastened it to the mesh. Simple look which I love.

"5eat shift kit (My favorite mod!), tranny cooler & bypass"

Did have the TransGo 5EAT-HD2, and what's this "bypass" doing for the tranny? Also have a 5eat and put on a b&m tranny cooler, wondering other mods to help out my tranny be a bit smoother.

I installed the 5eat kit myself and it was a blast. The bypass is essentially a thermostat that stays closed until it reaches its target temp which is 180degrees if I remember correctly then will begin to flow fluid into the cooler. I have the route as transmission~radiator~ext cooler~transmission. The bypass ensures a more consistent operating temp. Hope that makes sense. Reading the transmission forums with climberd threads are very informative.

I use premium only. The 3.0 was designed for that fuel. The 3.6 can use regular unleaded.

Started tuning this week. Learning a lot and so far have my DBW maps, idle adjustments, and radiator fans modified. Now for the actual tune. The new DBW map makes a tremendous difference. Idle at 800rpm. This is fun

Why are you messing with the radiator fans? Something not functioning properly?

Well to this point I have rescaled the MAF sensor and started pulling timing for all the FBKC. IAM at 0.986 right now and was 0.52 at stock... yikes. Today I finally completed my DBW maps after several weeks of research and development. Very nice transformation... slushbox to icebox!

The knock correcting & DBW maps completely transform the car. I honestly believe more people would've bought a 3.0R if it drove like this. A driver's car now. No Joke!

Once I finish up timing, on to the elusive AVCS tables.

Applied same DBW maps to the wife's 06 Tribeca. Fantastic! Her car pings worse than mine. I'm afraid to see the IAM value for hers. Time to log it.

Ya learning view and my rom don't get along so I use romraider and one of merchgods spreadsheets and now iam is steady at 1.

The h6 engines are notorious for knocking with stock rom even on high octane gas after a bunch of research. Tuning a big improvement. I would check out your Tribeca.

Well sad to say... not really but... LLGreen is officially done! I've dialed in the timing and with that I have to say I learned a ton about tuning and had a blast doing it. Romraider is an excellent source of diy information.

Wanted to spice up the interior on a budget and looking at the edm model interior I wanted to go with more black. I like the results. Plastidipped as of right now but I think a more permanent solution maybe in order. Still waffling the outer bezels color. Hmm...

I love the color combo on this. Never seen it in person.

How do you like the Whiteline bits? I just got the front castor bushings (to replace failed avo bushings) and bump steer kit installed and they are crunchy sounding.

Thanks ya I love the combo as well with the tint. As for whiteline I've have been very pleased with their products. No issues as of 15k since installation of the parts. If you are having issues their customer service is very good from what I've heard. I hope you can get your issue sorted.

Does the combo of LGT springs/Koni struts lower the car more then OEM the LGT springs struts combo? Your car is the second one I've seen with the combination and both sit noticeably lowered then my OB with OEM LGT springs and struts.
