if it came with an auto I would be more likely but.. more likely from 0 isnt much.

I dont afford the luxuries of "fun" vehicles... not right now. ifI want a fun car that is a manual I'll get a corvette or something. My LGT spends 99% of its driving going less than 40mph.
You're setting yourself up for an ownage here.

where?

because I drive an auto? I dont care what people think of that.. I have often second guessed my buying automatics in the past but with my current commute I'm thankful for it every day. A long.. slow.. hilly bumper to bumper drive..

Hi everyone,

We have both the auto and manual version in Australia. According to Subaru Australia, the auto is just as quick in a straight line. (shorter gear ratio) Don't know how it translate to track use.

I test drove the manual version. The throw is terribly long and much stiffer then the current 6 speed box. Clutch engagement is also much lower which is more pleasant to use. I drive the car to work everyday and this box doesn't do me.

I am going to test drive the auto version this weekend. Will keep you guys posted. (if you guys are interested.

I guess the those laws of physics dont apply to the JDM version which has a an auto...

The only reason there is no auto turbo in the USA is SOA is lazy, stupid and inept.

It has zero to do "too much uber turbo powerz for ze auto".

Meaning? The two trannies run just about the same if you don't factor in a launch, OR also launch the auto at around 3200 and do the same with the manual. It's also in line with what pretty much every tuner out there has told me. Of course, we're talking 4th gen 5/6MT LGT vs 5EAT LGT which right now is a moot argument since the LGTs don't come with a 5EAT anymore. I do agree with your point, evidence seems to suggest that the JATCO internals supplied for the 5EAT are the same as the ones on the Nissan Z and Infiniti G, which are both rated at 300hp.
SOA seems to want to differentiate the LGT from the rest of the pack as being the enthusiast/driver's trim level, thus the MT only version.

JATCO has some pretty heavy duty CVT units equipped in pretty high horsepower cars in the Nissan line-up, I really don't see why. However, NA 2WD power delivery is quite different from turbo AWD power delivery so torque alone is not the only story here.
There's a turboed CVT coupe Altima pushing well over 350whp on the stock transmission. The first one he fried because he boiled the ATF and killed the tranny belt. He's on the second tranny now with a cooler and it seems to be holding up OK.
