CTATV
nice, I would like to get a tow hitch for my 06 Spec.b but dont know if it would void warranty on the car... I have some dirtbikes/atvs/motorcycle but really want to be able to tow my 15 foot jetboat... Not all the time as a have a v8 Dodge dakota, but tow the 6 hour drive to upstate NY summer place. I can use friends and neigbors truck to launch would just like to take the car for the highway drive and driving around town while up there... What transmission do you have

darren94
I got a hidden hitch for the gt but since the greddy catback, it no longer fits between the cans so, i sold it. When i first got the car, i pulled my seadoo, atv and atv small trailer, and my rc airplane hobby trailer. Since then, i purchased a 99 cherokee sport to haul all the toys! But since the modding bug bit, the lgt has only pulled its own weight.

Im planning on getting the ebay CBE in the future but I would keep stock exhaust over not towing and just do DP
darren94
My seadoo is a 96 xp hull but has a carbon fiber bottom conversion and seadoo's 958cc motor so, it weighs in at a cool 385 lbs plus 155 lb trailer. Now, the atv is a bombardier ds650 with an extended swingarm, weighted front (set up for dirt drags) and with trailer is about 1000lbs and the suby did great. A little weak on the braking but good overall. but, i dont have any pics and my local shop ordered it for me. I think i paid around 250. And it might work with smaller aftermarket exhausts but' my greddy is huge.

I have a 2001 Wolverine, Had an 89 Quadzilla, but sold a sled and the Zilla for capital to get the jetboat. its a 97 speedster. A little bit heavier than a sled or the atvs so i dont know im on the fence about towing with it reguardless of warranty. if i did it would be a 6-7 hour drive up 90 west (NY thruway) http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/fiidgett/100_0856.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/fiidgett/100_2915.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/fiidgett/2628537050062217745AYCDvz_fs.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/fiidgett/boat-hummin.jpg

lvethesnow
i was under the impression that you're not supposed to tow anything with a LGT History does not entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid People sleep peacefully at night cause rough men stand ready to do violence on there behalf
max_stirling
i was under the impression that you're not supposed to tow anything with a LGT I think you can tow upto 2700lbs with the LGT and upto 3K lbs with the the Outback model. I have a Hidden Hitch. I haven't towed with it yet. I mostly use it with a hitch mounted bike rack. Don't know if anyone else is having clearance issues? I will occasionally scraped driveways. Does anyone use a tongue riser so that the trailer is level? If so, how much of a rise?
BostonXT
I "tow" my canoe with my Outback XT... the loader fits into the tow hitch. It swivels, allowing me to load and unload the canoe myself. And the third resting point gives it perfect stability... http://i46.tinypic.com/332xocn.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/1ze88zn.jpg

I gave up and got a kayak for solo paddles. thanks, but i've been leaning towards getting a nice angler's kayak lately, myself! although, the canoe does have the trolling motor for long days.... usually it's the wife and me on the canoe - she's just not the best help for loading/unloading! darren94
CTATV, Here are a few pics of the ATV and the jestski before the modding bug hit. The ski is now MUCH different (cant even tell its the same model) and the 4 wheeler has a new swingarm, shocks and modified fenders. But all and all, as stated before, the suby did just fine. Also, in the last pic, you can see the exhaust size that does not allow for the hitch setup

I used to have a seadoo GTX those 97 XPs. the X4 hull are one of the best to tinker with. My engine builder dennis at 2 stroke performance had one all modded up. I dont think he did an engine swap but being an engine builder he squeezed ever fraction of a HP out of the stock engine. my jetboat has two of the 720s in it it moves along pretty good (like 60) two of them pack a nice punch. the 720 was the engine they had in the HX back in the day... great racing hull but not much for throwing a friend on the back. If i get another ski down the road it will most likely be a 97 XP
darren94
The x5 hull is the best for messing around and it is not a big and lumbering as the newer hull designs. I picked the ski up a little over a year ago from a dealer going out of business for 700 bucks with a new never used trailer and the ski had a new motor, never ran, still had the spark plugs cap-offs from the factory. I had to source a set of stock carbs, exhaust and other random parts. The ski ran great until the typical problem of the oil injection "pump" failing and cooked the motor. Then the modding began. the 958 motor, stock pump, solas prop, ride plate, sponsons, bigger tank, oil injection block off, new exhaust and moded crab kit and the carbon fiber lower deck. The ski is still yellow on top but, black on the bottom and runs like a raped ape!! The top speeds do not compare to the new 4-storke supercharged models but nothing can touch it out of the hole. Great for less than 2 grand invested and i wouldnt trade it for anything! The Ds is also nice bc i have it set up for dirt drags but, did not get crazy enough to not allow trail riding with my buds and pop. But, i am a water lover at heart and would give up the car and quad for a arsenal of skis! I am just glad to see that there are still others out there that share the same love!!! CTATV
yeah wish you were closer so we could go out for a ride. have you been on any of the seadoo jetboats. lots of fun. this video isnt my boat but its the same year same model... people turn heads when i unload and they hear that 2 stroke burble and rumble and then their jaws drop when i start the second engine. 2 engines in a 14ft 6 inch boat is wa wa wi wa 97 Seadoo Speedster 360 video by fiidgett - Photobucket@@AMEPARAM@@http://vid119.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/fiidgett/Speedstertakeoffsmall.flv@@AMEPARAM@@vid119@@AMEPARAM@@119@@AMEPARAM@@o160/fiidgett/Speedstertakeoffsmall

BostonXT
AWESOME. Just awesome. thanks, she's a big canoe! catch lots of fish, and lots of sun... this is the canoe loader: http://www.ekitchengadgets.com/350-31-0901-w.html again, it swivels so you put one end on and then just walk the other end around. just make sure you aren't parked near anything or you'll be starting over. fits right into the tow hitch and there is an attachment so you can still tow something with it on. this funny dude's video kind of explains the physics of it, even if his is homemade and upside down and on a cavalier. autotech
do they even sell a kit for the LGT non wagon that will make the brake lights on the trailer work too?
TCSKIBIKE
i was under the impression that you're not supposed to tow anything with a LGT Maybe SOA says its a sport wagon but there is bolt holes and a wiring harness already for the hitch. I was told the same thing about my 04 WRX, I had not problem towing my motos, 88K original clutch. I'm not worried about it.
TCSKIBIKE
do they even sell a kit for the LGT non wagon that will make the brake lights on the trailer work too? I bet its all hiding behind the panels in the interior. I installed my hitch myself. I had to get into the rear quarter and remove the factory connector and wire it manually to the Draw-tite wiring. No biggie.
