Plug n Play Aux-in mod for 2005 6cd radios

anyone have any problems with the included audio cable. i have only had mine for 4 or 5 months and i have to bend and hold the plug end to get sound to come out:spin:

Same symptoms for me - I paid for the cable, but the internal wiring became flaky a few inches from the plug only a few months into use. Yet, I don't bend the cable in normal use. Will have to take all the fascia pieces apart and install a new cable, locally purchased this time from an electronics store.

 

Will be installing the product soon in my spouse's car, but I won't take a chance with the cable that was sent - will use the same type I replace mine with for that install.

 

Otherwise, the product has been working great.

The failure of that cable has been my only gripe with the system. Luckily I anticipated this might be a problem and kept the filter and second cable as far back as possible to minimize rework. Too bad 'cause it looked like a high quality cable. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

yes, the product is great, but im soooo PO'd i have to take the dash and radio apart again. that mini audio plug is JUNK!!

 

for those that havnt installed this yet, DON'T use it, get another one!!

I'm bummed about so many people having problems with the old PAC iPod cable. I replaced several of them that were defective right off the bat & looked for something else to switch to but came up empty. The new docking cable they're selling (which is quite a bit more expensive for me) is much nicer though and the RCA connections instead of 1/8" stereo jack should be far more reliable over time. No problems with either so far at least.

 

..Live and learn I suppose - I would never have expected there to be "reliability" issues with the tried and true standard headphone jack. The quality of the old iPod cable from PAC also left a bit to be desired.

I was going to say, I wonder if you could order some better quality ones elsewhere that maybe even cost you less. (And of course you can still arrange a profit in resale.) Monoprice really is good, I mean they sell junk too but you can usually tell what's good and what isn't, from the pics, descriptions and reviews.

I had the Jazzy Ipod Pro Aux-in Kit installed fairly recently when I had a set of aftermarket speakers/4-channel amp installed. Ever since I've had the kit installed, I've noticed a high frequency buzz or static sound that becomes more noticeable as I turn up the volume. I had it installed by a professional installer who said he followed the instructions carefully. I only notice the noise from my CD changer when I play a CD or my I-pod through the blank CD. The radio does not make this sound, so I'm pretty confident its something to do with the Aux-in kit. I've sent Jazzymt 3 PMs, but have not received a response yet. Is there anybody that can offer up some assistance or has experienced something similar? I'd appreciate any feedback or info.

No prob. I'm just glad I figured out how to get to you...

It doesn't appear to be alternator noise, but I'm no expert. I took it to another car stereo installer to get a second opinion. His first reaction was an alternator ground, but then when he got inside my car to listen, he thought differently. The sound doesn't seem to be related to RPMS or the engine running. It only seems to be coming from the CD changer...either when I play a regular CD or play my I-pod through the blank CD included with the kit. It does get more noticeable as I turn up the volume. I don't notice the sound at all when I play the radio, that's why the installer was pretty sure it has something to do with the Aux-in kit.....

Sounds like ground loop noise to me. Did you purchase a kit with a ground loop isolator? If not - you can just get one at Walmart, Radio Shack, etc...I would try that first. If you have one already, it may not be installed correctly...

I purchased the I-pod Pro Aux-in Kit...it was something like $97 not including shipping, I believe. Does that include a ground loop isolator in it? I know he installed everything that came with it, but perhaps there is an issue with the installation assuming the kit did come with it. Any specific input on proper installation of the ground loop isolator?

Pro installers often feel the need to connect wires to everything - even if they're not needed. The RCA GLI's PAC sells have two brown wires to connect reference grounds to each side of the GLI if necessary - older audio equipment would sometimes freak out without a reference ground. If he connected the two wires together and wired them to ground though - it completely defeats the purpose of the GLI - which is to isolate the ground of one side from the other.

 

I would open up your dash and see if you can find the GLI - cut the brown wires off & you should be in good shape.

Okay. I'm going to pass this info. along to my installer. I'm not really comfortable getting into this by myself, but my installer is willing to help me address the issue without charge. So just to be clear, the kit I ordered did or did not come with a GLI?....like I mentioned, every component was used, but I can't remember what exactly was in the box.

 

Also, my car is a 2005 LGT if that makes a difference.

Hey Guys, the car is currently ripped apart and I'm in the process of installing the board.

 

I have it installed and have the ipod connected, however once I turn on the radio - insert the silent cd - select cd - I get about 1 second worth of music. With only the silent cd in there, I can try to skip tracks and still only get 1 second of music. Nothing else.

 

I've taken it apart twice looking for anything that I might be missing, and I cant figure it out. I got the Pro kit - and did not connect the black or red wire on the PAC cable to anything. Is that whats causing me problems?

Grounded the PAC cable, still only 1 second of audio. Dont want to splice to charge the ipod right now, but I still dont see what I'm missing......

Yessir, that was it. Burned another silent CD with a Sony CDR, works good now.
