scoobycoupe
Anyone else seen the new Audi A4 commercial with all of the cars chirping as they lock and unlock? If you have not check out the link below. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz4IjcGnYiQ]Audi A4 TV Commercial - "Chirp" - YouTube[/ame] Well it sounds a million times better than the beep our cars make. I know I know, "just disable the beep ". I actually like to hear that the car is locked so that is not an option. Really I just want to swap the audi chirp speaker box with the one we have under the pass side headlight. Has anyone ever removed the one in our cars? Is it just a "speaker" with a hot and ground wire, or is it more complicated than that?
Steve R.
Well, if you dont want the chirp, but want a lock confirm, keep pressing the lock button. After (90% sure) 5 presses, it will actually use the horn to confirm.

Steve R.
3 presses. Car finder feature. Ah, thank you. Found that out myself a few weeks ago by accident, definitely forgot how many presses.
JermTheElf
It's like a simple piezo buzzer that just gets an abrupt pulse. Find yourself a 90db 12V piezo buzzer or something close to that. Find your door lock pulse from the ECU. Make sure you know if its either ground triggered or positive triggered. Hook it up to a relay and run it to your piezo buzzer in the engine bay. Profit. scoobycoupe
I believe on our cars the buzzer is ground switched with constant 12v. I can not find the part no. for this thing, it probably never goes bad or very rarely.
13fido13
My 08 comes with a chirp, I've disabled it.... Ask the dealer to look up the PN for the chirper?
ssbtech
The 08's chirp sounds like the Audi in the video? I always thought it sounded like the 05. Anyway... the Legacy beep sounds a million times better than domestic horn honks so I'm happy with the way it is.
scoobycoupe
I agree it is better than the horn honk it gives you with the car finder. The only thing that gets me is that a Camry makes the same sound
