Keith, it's about time you get some tint on those windows.. I got mine done at Untouchables on state street. The guy is really cool, I had 5% in the back and 20% up front. If you want darker than legal on the front windows, tell him you'll pay cash and hell do what ever you want. He does a awesome job, my buddy just took his G35 there and did 5% all around, looks great.

I'd like to keep it legal...don't want any trouble with the cops. All I really know about tint is that my last car had its windows tinted, and I had to get the tint on the front windows removed once I got to Utah.

Also, the tint on the rear window kind of distorted things, so having a perfectly clear view thru my rearview mirror wasn't possible. I'm guessing that was just cheap tint, though.

I don't really know how much tint to put on.

Well you'll find legal tint in Utah is pretty lame. If i remember correctly i think its only like 43% (someone correct me if i'm wrong). So if you want to keep it legal do something relatively light all the way around. It always looks stupid when someone does really dark on the back windows and then close to nothing on the front.

But to answer you other concern, you shouldn't have to worry about distortion, if it is good tint, you'll be able to see just fine. If i might suggest, Do something like 35% on the back windows, and legal on the front. That would give you a good clean look and not attrack any unwanted attention

 I was going to say the same thing as bighaus, Utah Window tiniting is where I got mine done, I've had about 7 or 8 cars done there. And I agree the legal limit sucks, 43% is correct, but I have already been pulled over once in the last 6 months for tint and I know they're cracking down on it hard, but I'm still keeping mine nice and dark :)

I am going to get mine tinted soon and my plan is to get 20% on the rear window and the 2 small windows behind the rear doors and then like 30% can't remember if its that or another % on the rear door windows then on the front door ill do legal. I don't want to have to deal with the tint being pulled for safety inspection or risk getting pulled over.

I swear we talked about this in the Utah spotted thread a while ago...

Utah Window Tinting sucks. Well, my experience sucked. My wife called them about tinting all four of our cars with illegal tint a couple years ago. The owner said he'd do it, so we took two of our cars down there, then he said he wouldn't do it. What the hell?

So... I ended up having a friend of a friend do mine. Come to find out, he does THE BEST tinting ever. He will spend an entire day on a car, and it looks perfect. He's a perfectionist and uses only the best quality tint; he's also cheaper than any shop you'll go to. He'll tint whatever % you want. He worked for Supertints years ago, and just does it on his own out of his garage. PM me for his number.

Actually had a friend tint his windows there and I was not impressed with the edges. They had also mismatched a couple windows. My buddy free hands everything and it looks amazing... May take him longer to do but it's definitely worth it, especially if you compare prices. I would rather have somebody take their time to do things right rather than quickly. We had also called ahead for an appointment there and when we took the cars down, they didn't have us down for an appointment. Just a bad experience for my wife and I altogether; this was a few years ago, so perhaps they have changed? I would still rather go to the guy that takes his time and charges less.

A Touch of Air Glass and Trim - 900 South across the street from the southlake post office in Provo. I had my first Car (Camry) and Second car (IS300) both tinted there with their bake on stuff. AMAZING results. No lines anywhere, and the tint goes all the way to the edge of the glass in every spot.

It's been since 2005 since I had the Lexus Tinted there, but it was $175 with a lifetime warranty against bubbles, color changes, even scratches (unless abused). I bought the LGT tinted, but i've contemplated having them remove the old stuff and redoing it for me. (They've offered when I've gone in to have a windshield replaced). I've had a bunch of crap get stuck in the side window and scratched the hell out of the tint. That never would have happened with the IS, and when they saw it, they made sure to comment on it.

They won't tint darker than legal if the car is licensed in Utah, but my camry was licensed in Michigan and the Lexus was licensed in Texas....

If you want to borrow some out of state plates....:)

These are the only pictures of the lexus after the tint job:

Had my tint job at tint specialists in Murray. Good experience, good install. Went there over other places because they offered forumla 1 pinnacle tint and I wanted a ceramic tint. Couldn't find any place in Utah that offered Huper Optik.

The back window isn't perfect -it has about 4 specs that if I pointed out you would notice, but otherwise probably not. The rest are fine.

Paid $275ish for all windows except the windshield - 50% front and 35% rear. Job was done in a few hours; I came back the next week because my passenger rear had a dust cluster in a corner. They redid the window without hassle.

I was just going through pics from the meet and your tint doesn't look all that dark compared to others. I actually like it. What % is yours?

How much should I expect to pay for a decent tinting job?

Depends on the film you use to a certain extent.

In terms of cost (from my experience)

Dyed < Metallic < Ceramic

A metallic tint job is probably $150-$250. Ceramic is probably $250-450.

Cost also depends on brands of film and installer.

ive got 30% all around right now but im thinking about stripping it and going down to 20% if i strip it myself my friend that works down at Car Concepts quoted me around 120-140 bucks and if you pay cash you can go as dark as you want, if i remember correctly they have a lifetime on the tint bubbling or fading out to purple.

Just got back from A Touch of Air in Provo. The guy didn't even go outside to look at my car....he looked through the shop window (which says he's either very good or wrong). He said it looks like my rear tint is around 20%. Quoted me about $60 to tint the front windows the same amount. Said that if I wanted to make everything darker, it would be around $275 because they would have to remove the old tint.

Does my car look like it has 20% in the back? Looks pretty light to me, but I don't really know how it all works. Think it would look good if I tinted the fronts to be the same as the back?

Here are some pics of my car as it is right now.

Update: I went to Untouchables in Orem and they actually checked my rear tint...it's 37%. They suggested I do 43% on the front, then 20% on the rear window (back). What do you guys think? I don't really want to spend $250-$300 on tint.

I just got mine finished 43% in the front (legal limit) and 20% everywhere else. Ill get some pictures up. also it was only $140. Pm me for some more info.

Yeah, interested in pics. Problem is, I already have tint on the back windows so they would have to remove it to go darker: hence the higher price.

They'll probably do 50% upfront. I don't think anyone makes a tint that is 43%.

I have 35% in the front and 20% in the rear... I kinda wish I would have gone 20% all around. Here's a photo that gives a good representation of what my tint usually looks like during the day, even though it's in black and white.
