Help identifying part

07 LGT.

 

I have a vac leak coming from the small cover circled in red. Just in front of the turbo, under the manifold.

 

Any help identifying this as I am trying to find the gasket?

 

I've checked OF, can't seem to find it listed.

Looks like a TGV block off, do you have a TGV delete?

Nope, no delete. Only Stg 1 tune and aftermarket intercooler. What would this be blocking if I did have the delete?

 

I am wondering if it's this?

That is definitely a TGV blockoff plate. Ordinarily there would be the TGV sensor there which would then have the shaft with a seal as seen on the bottom of the 2nd one in from the left. OEM TGV's on left JDM deletes on right.

 

My guess is when the delete was done the seal wasn't perfect after taking out the shafts and there wasn't enough or any JB weld used to seal it.

No delete was done. I can see the TVG plates still intact. Plus looking at the sensor location it seems the one on the passenger side is in the front, not near the turbo.

14120 is the motor. The sensor is the smaller one and is near the turbo on the passenger side. You may have the "cheap" delete done where just the motors are deleted and the shaft and plates are left in in the open position.

Wouldn't this normally throw a CEL if it was rigged this way?

 

And I don't have any extra plugs dangling.

I didn't do the delete and didn't think it had been done. So there was no tune for it.

 

I have to dig into this and figure out what the heck is going on.

 

Easy enough the see if the motors are in place without tearing anything apart?

Look on the opposite side of the TGV's

Topfeed TGV deletes use a different motor then the sidefeeds on 05-06 cars. He probably still has his TGVs.

 

Pic of 07 STI Topfeed TGV. You can see that same plate on the backside. The 05-06 sidefeeds have motors/sensors on both the back and front.

I was sort of wondering about the 05/06 vs the 07-09's. Looks like I would have to order the full assembly just for a gasket from what I have found. Might have to RVT, rather not.

I guess I can just crack it open and RTV.

If it it leaking from that plate just take it off and make a new gasket with some rubber gasket paper. Should do the trick and be less messy then RTV.

What do you know the side feed and top feed TGV motors are different as well. I guess you learn something new every day.

Guess this thread is done.

 

After moving the cover to one side you can see there are grooves cutout, so that cover doesn't provide a full seal. Must be some reasoning when they did away with the sensor. Odd.
