Plug n Play Aux-in mod for 2005 6cd radios

I installed the Jazzy board yesterday along with installing my new Sirius radio. A year w/o Howard Stern made me highly motivated to get this done. Staight forward install using the great instructions on the pdf. Was more difficult installing the antenna in that plastic wing above the hatch back (wagon). I wanted a clean look that is why I put it in there and i get great signal in also.

Impressive piece of engineering Jazzy, thanks for all the work and a great product.

FYI, your local car audio dealer can install this no problemo. Expect to pay $50 to $100. Professionals will be happy to help, especially with the incredible installation documentation.

Sweet! When is it? Could someone also help me with up/down pipes should I get those too?

I'm ordering sways this week but have a friend that can do those.

I think mudfoot has pics on 2nd pg of that thread with instructions.

thx, i was searching for something else and stumbled across that thread.... great way to hide the antenna, already installed mine that way.

Due to the resounding success of this board, I'm also committing now to make every possible effort to develop a next generation. One that is still 100% plug and play, and takes no silent CD...those are the only certainties so far. I'd like to also include:

1) Adjustable autosensing (1s, 5s, 10s or something like that for nav vs. music)

2) Song name display & control of iPods. I'll have to look into compatibility between the mini, nano & standard generations, but this is still a goal.

3) Serial in/out for mp3, dvd, mpeg4 or whatever control + display for the carputer folk (this is dead last on the priority list, but I'd like to use it myself some day)

What ever happened to Version 2 ???

Being a EE myself ( although it's been a number of years since I did hands on electronics, it makes sense to me to bypass the crude mixer circuit and merely have a manual switch.

The mixer circuit will actually now mix in any hiss / unclean noise the CD player produces. ( I can't imagine that a crappy radio produces a clean signal )..

Jazzy, maybe you have the answer to this .. Have you placed the CD-OUT line on the scope and observed a near 0db signal ? If there is anything on this line, then I would want to add a manual ( high quality ) switch to bypass this signal.. ( This switch would need to have a very low ohm rating such as not to degrade the signals being sent through it..

Thoughts ???

I am extremely interested in this solution..

However, I will even place an external audio switcher in the cubby ( or elsewhere ) to be able to switch between Sat Radio / iPOD / or other audio source.. Has anyone done this ? I am looking for such an external audio switcher that is has a very small footprint ..

Ver 2 is so far more than I can figure out on my own - not being an EE myself, I haven't been able to descipher the communcation protocol for the CD changer.

As far as the audio switch, it's certainly possible - it's just more complexity than I wanted to include in my design - at least the "first" design, which has now cemented itself as "the" design. It's essentially the route mvigneau took though - if you want to use a switch and avoid the silent CD route - his solution might be a better fit for you.

High potential for a stupid Question....when I hook up my RoadyXT, will there be a continuous charge running to it? I plan on having a prof. install place do it so I think theyll be able to figure it out....

Also, how long will it take for you to ship it?

Tx,

joe

The aux-in does not provide power - to get that I'd hardware your RoadyXT to the cigarette lighter power lines - that's what I did w/my Roady2.

Orders generally ship with in 2-3 days of receipt and shipping is USPS Priority = 2 more days, includes Saturdays.

Jazzy my man,

I am putting together a car-puter for my car. I wonder which one of your products is the most recommended and why. I plan on ordering part one of my products in a matter of days and that would include Jazzy Aux Input and the touchscreen.

I am looking more for ease of connection (since my input will come from the integrated sound card of the computer) but certainly not willing to listen to inferior quality audio...after going to such expense.

Thanks man. Definitely keep one available for me...and as soon as I get an answer I will order it from you.

I'm plenty well stocked. Don't worry. For your application, I would definitely recommend the Pro Kit. Without the GLI, you will almost certainly get ground loop noise.

question about the line-in to an xm radio.

If i had an xm radio hooked up to the aux-line in, and say wanted to just un-hook it from the xm and connect an Ipod, would that work? meaning day to day....or would a change have to be made on the board behind the dash....

Is there a method to power/charge the ipod while it's connected to the aux-in line?
Yes, you need a charge & play cable of some kind. I sell one with my kits, but there are several other varieties to choose from:

the mail lady had a surprise for me on saturday, so I got to install the aux input over the weekend... while I haven't had a chance to drive the car, the install was simple, the directions clear, and everything works as advertised.... another big thumbs up for the Jazzymt :woowoo:
