Spec12634
Well i was wondering if this is possible..i want to get a new headunit, and fit it inbetween the air vents in the middle of my dash. I have the upgraded stereo but with no DVD/Nav and just a single disc player. I want to keep the head unit that i have now and keep it working..but i want to add a DVD headunit, also so i can have independant subwoofer controls.. Im confused as of what i would need to buy and how easy it would be... thanks. also i dont have the Dual climate control below the disk changer..its just nobs with no lcd screen. or i could replace the headunit but im not sure which dash kit to buy for the car. Darkness of Death
there is a dash kit for your model...dont remember the manufacturer...do a search in this forum unless someone chimes in with the company name for you
cowtipper
I'm not too familiar with a cubby install, but a few people have done it here. I know you said you wanted to keep the stock HU, but if you wanted to consider a project outside of that, both Scosche and Metra make replacement dash faceplates in single and double din for our manual climate control. I'll be making a thread on my install in a few days to see if it's something you'd consider.
Spec12634
alright. another question gusy..if i DONT replace the headunit..and just keep it stock, is there an output for amp/sub on the back of the headunit?
lgtdude
I was in a similar situation and came to the conclusion that the best thing to do (if you have the auto a/c) is to install JL Audio's Cleansweep device which allowed me to incorporate two amps, an mp3 connector, sub and components. I have been very pleased with it. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_cleansweep_pages.php?page_id=94 Good Luck, Jonathan
cowtipper
The other option besides a clean sweep would be tapping the front channels and the ignition power (yellow?) for an amp and using a line out converter or a straight wire if the amp accepted speaker level in. custom_junky
^^that is what i did...paralleled the rear speakers with LOC to the amp with a ingition remote wire...the stock head units do not have preouts for amps...
