Likelihood of 1st gear slip in 4eat being fluid related?

I'm looking at a 2000 outback that has the head gasket, timing belt and water pump already serviced. Apparently routine maintenance is unheard of, this is the first one I've been able to find that has these things done.

The problem is it "sometimes slips into 1st". I can't pin down a solid answer as to how likely it is that a fluid flush would solve this issue. In other words, how likely is it that I'd be buying a transmission about to pop?
