LegacyDan
Out of all the turbo heat shields available is there anyone one that offers better heat managament over another or are they are pretty much the same looking at the Cobb, Grimmspeed and SPT ones there is a difference in price but in just wondering is the $75 Grimmspeed one better than the $50 Cobb ones
scoobydoobie
SPT fits over your stock heat shield. People have had issues with mounting tabs breaking on Cobb heatshields. Mine has been holding up fine for 2+ years so YMMV. Haven't heard anything bad about the GS shield. A lot of people prefer turbo blankets to heatshields. Or double up and use both. Strizzy
PTP Turbo blanket with OEM heatshield. I can literally put my hand on top of it right after beating on the car. My bad luck build
BAC5.2
PTP blanket with a GS heat shield. I can do the same as Strizzy. I also wrapped the downpipe, and got the cat out of the engine bay. All good choices. LegacyDan
sorry i should have mentioned, stock heatshield was fubarred after turbo upgrade so i have a PTP turbo blanket already in place so i want to put an aftermarket heatshield over this . Does the downpipe give off much heat? Is it worth wrapping the top half at least. probably best to take it off and wrap it. I was thinking of sticking some heat reflective tape on the underside of my Hyperflow TMIC too , it might help prevent heatsoak a bit, probably not though! jbrown
COBB IS PRETTY GOOD, IT'S NOT A FANTASTIC INSULATOR BUT IT DOES HELP. i WENT WITOUT A HEAT SHIELD FOR A FEW MONTHS AND NOTICED THE HEAT OVERALL INSIDE THE BAY AND AFTER THE INSTALL IS REDUCED MODERATLEY! LegacyDan
think ill probably go for the Grimmspeed one. i noticed when my turbo was swapped that the heatshield bracket was left off. Is this the bracket for it? I found it in the box of removed parts: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3/desperatedano/IMG_20110825_173437.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3/desperatedano/IMG_20110825_173510.jpg

LegacyDan
So i went ahead and ordered up the Grimmspeed one, i tried to go ut today and fit the stock heatshield bracket back on but it doesnt fit. so it seems like there is a few different types of these brackets. Since i have a vf36 turbo in there do i need to get a vf36 specific bracket or will a braket off any sti style turbo do the job? I can alternatively just modify my current bracket and it should work but them the heatshield may not fit onto it. Any have any ideas?
