Hey Guys I wanna get a Momo Shift Knob for my my 05 LGT 5SPD MT. I was wondering if it will fit (http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=ALUAIR-R/482.0.19261.19261.0.0.0 there it is). It may be a dumb question, but i honestly don't know. Are they a standard size or do they vary? Also how do i remove the stock on and replace it with a new one? is it just simply unthreading the old one and screwing the new one on? Please let me know thank you.

I just installed a Kartboy that is specifically made for the subaru on my 5 spd OBXT.

First: I just unscrewed the old Knob and gently, repeat gently pulled it out of the OEM boot.

Second: Then I attached the new knob to the boot. Kartboy is machined with the OEM boot holder (knotch) and screw it down tight within proper tolerances and then stuck my Shift Pattern sticker on top.

Third: Done and the Kartboy sits lower on the shifter by about an inch giving the illusion of a short shifter.

That knob is a "universal" knob that is made for a 6-speed car with a reverse lock-out lever on the shifter (you would need one for a car without that). I had two of the "universal" Momo knobs on my last car and I hated them because they used a set-screw that dug into a spacer and the threads of your shift lever to hold it in place. They always became loose and were very annoying. You'd be much better off getting the Subaru Momo knob like this: http://www.thekingofparts.com/servlet/the-7/MOMO-Shift-Knob-Manual/Detail. That screws directly onto your shift lever and it has the small lip at the bottom that will hold the shift boot up tight against it. PM TheKingOfParts on the forums here (they're an awesome vendor) and they might be able to give you a little better deal.
