Reunited!

Recommended Posts

So my car developed a CEL a couple weeks ago. Misfire on cyl 4

Took it into the shop, ended up having to do compression tests and leakdown tests - down 15% on cylinder 4, 12% on cylinder 2. Apparently some valve gaskets (I believe) had become unseated, deteriorated, or something along those lines. Anyhow, thankfully SOA was awesome enough to cover the repair work under warranty. I'm at 64k, but I did purchase an extended warranty from the dealer when I got the LGT.

The downside - I was stuck with using a 2009 VW Beetle as a loaner car in the meanwhile. I do not have words to explain the level of detest I have developed for that car... Uncomfortable, slow, awkward in all senses, small, and generally not a car for me. Perhaps for a 16 year old girl, but definitely not a 26 year old IT specialist in a rock n roll band. Two things I did like - it had an aux input for my iPod, and the gauges are a pretty blue. That's all I could find that I liked about it.

Picked up my beloved LGT today, and I was so happy. I had to work 18 hours today, but I would rather have my car today and no lunch, then to have a nice lunch and pick up my car tomorrow. Currently I have had a banana to eat since dinner last night. But it was well worth it, the joy I got hearing that beautiful 2.5L boxer engine purr again, and feel the power.

I also threw a new timing belt on there since we had the motor apart, and fixed a tear in the front passenger CV boot. This is by far the best day of this year!

Pictures of said VW Beetle to come... :spin::spin::spin:

Funny, I was about to make a similar post.

Our 05 just went in for some minor warranty stuff under the CPO (seat heaters, CV leak, O2 sensor). They gave us a 2010 Legacy as a loaner. Wow....Subaru completely destroyed the Legacy. Interior was awful, slow as hell (yeah, non-turbo I know...but still), and the drivers seat was loose!

Felt great to get the GT back today

It did get a lot better gas mileage though :o

Hey Thanks

For the Service Repair info ... Im @ 60K & have had the same problems with Cylr 1/3 compression. So I will make an appointment to see Subaru. Did your fuel economy get better??? I ask because I know mine has been off even after my 60K Tune.

Today is a Great day!!!

I have driven my car a grand total of 15 miles from the dealer back to work, so I couldn't report anything about mileage. I did notice it was running in lower numbers before I took it in - I was seeing about 18mpg on the built in display at best with 50/50 city/highway driving, when I was used to seeing about 21 / 22 with more spirited driving.
