NOVA Tire Mounting

FLASHMSTRC

Recommended Posts

Anybody have a good shop in the Northern Virginia area, preferably Arlington that does nice work with fair prices.

Tried to go to Sears to get some a tire swapped onto a different rim and they were going to charge $60...$30/tire to mount and balance on the wheel.

Also, I have a bald Sumitomo tire due to an alignment and I'm looking for a replacement...anybody have one?

It has been almost 4 years since i worked for a major tire retailer/chain but it is not uncommon to see 25-30 bucks to mount/balance a 17" tire.

I went to Farrish Subaru in Fairfax which is a 15 minute drive from Arlington and they mounted and balanced 4 wheels for $90 including stems and whatnot. They did not charge the typical bs 10% shop fee or for old tire recycling fees which was nice. Much cheeper than NTB or merchants ($25 per tire + $3 tire disposal + $3 Valve stems + 10% shop fees).

merchants ended up being $23.75 for mount and balance, not too bad.

They must have changed their pricing. When I worked there in 05 they were $30 per tire for a 17" wheel.

Just call them up and ask them about pricing, the name of the Subie service manager is Dan and if you mention that you are on legacy gt.com they will give you a good price. I had been to the dealer several times to look at spec.b's and Stis and got to know AK Maloney, who is the only salesman I would consider when I am ready to buy my next subaru.

With regards to tire kingdom, ntb, merchants, etc. they may charge $23 per tire but they often charge extra for stems, tire disposal, and then you have the mandatory 10% shop fee which is kind of silly.

Did Farrish change service managers? It wasa guy named Dan when I bought my car there. The total out the door was $23.75 I think. I had a stem already in the wheel, and that included the shop fee...

Yep. I think most dealers who regularly post on the sites will work with site members as best they can.

If i get a local guy on the sites i am on Nasioc, IWSTI, or LGT on here and they let me know who they are, I work out a better figure.

WalMart- $9 per tire, mounted and balanced.

Guaranteed to rip off your tpms sensor too  I know the one down the street from us does it and they put in a regular one and claim it just broke and never pays for it.

I have had 6 sets of tires mounted and balanced at 3 different walmart tire and lube centers over the last 2.5 years and have never had a single issue. Every set has been balanced out well enough that I could rotate them and notice no difference, either.

Your experience may differ.

It sure does.

It is always interesting getting the weekly phone calls from customer's whose TPMS sensor was ripped off from that place and then get upset at us because walmart broke the damn thing and they try to get out of paying for it:lol:. I remember one customer that had 3 out of 4 damaged.

We mount and balance tires for $20 each. If we're swapping everything on and off the car, it's $115 total. (Take wheels off car, dismount tires, mount new tires, balance, put back on car.)

We also are Subaru specialists, and are familiar with TMPS stuff as well. And I promise we won't scratch your wheels.

We're in Sterling, VA.
