Drift Motion
If for some reason you bought a Gentex 536 (GNTX-536) instead of the ever-so-popular Gentex 453 (GNTX-453), you will not be able to use the regular cable that all 453 model uses. I thought all the Gentex 10 pin connectors are the same, they are not. The 536's cable is slightly different and pinned differently. Basically I got a mirror off a Hyundai Genesis, because it had compass, and the previous Gentex 453 Homelink Auto-dimming mirror that I have did not have it. You can source the car to mirror harness here: http://wembleysells.com/ tell them you have a Legacy, it should be $7 shipped. If you bought a Gentex 453 you can stop here, it's plug and play. It's a cable with three wires, 2 black ones, and 1 black with white stripe. From my multi-meter reading, the black with white wires did not have any power, the center black wire is ground, the other black wire has 12v when the key is turned to either ACC or ON Gentex 453 (Model: OBIHL3) Mirror has a wiring like follow A X G X X J X X O J A= Acc Power G= Ground J=Jumper between 2 pins O= Always on 12 V X=Empty Read more: http://priuschat.com/threads/need-help-from-a-gen-ii-owner-w-a-homelink-mirror.95061/#ixzz26lsOFZug Gentex 536 (Model: ZTVHL3) has the wiring as below http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=129014&stc=1&d=1347923318 Source: http://www.gencoupe.com/diy-do-yourself/71502-diy-homelink-mirror-install.html 4 wires total: 1 black wire - ground 1 yellow wire - my research says it's suppose to connect to the reverse light to disable the auto-dimming feature when you are reversing 1 pink wire - 1 pink w/black stripe - The two pink wires powers the Auto-dimming feature, other powers the Homelink and compass feature. What I did was connect the two pink wires to the black power wire ground to ground yellow - left alone bam, everything works, and now you can enjoy your Homelink/Auto-dimming/Compass mirror for much cheaper than the OEM Subaru ones for $200+ http://forums.nicoclub.com/wiring-diagram-for-2011-rogue-sv-t529271.html This thread might be helpful too. Dave57
That is a Kia/Hyundai mirror a 346 housing connector in the picture not a 536 housing connector. The pin out is the same provided it's not a Toyota mirror. The 536 mirror by the way has 2 different 10 pin mirror pin outs one for Toyota, one for Hyundai / Kia and then there's 536's for Toyota/and Hyundai/Kia with 5 pin connectors. A few notes on the 453 mirrors too. They can have 10 or 12 pin connectors. AND the internal jumper that Subaru relies on in their oem harness connector does not work on every 453 mirror. The hidden display and some Nissan mirrors don't have the internal jumper between pins 1 and 6 A 536 Hyundai / Kia harness is available here: 10 pin http://www.ebay.com/itm/300790851228 5 pin http://www.ebay.com/itm/300790850704
hsutao
What does the jumper do on the Subaru harness? I took a 453 from a Nissan to test because of range problems with the homelink that came with my Legacy and couldn't get it to power on. Plugging my Subaru mirror into the Nissan however, worked and I think the homelink buttons were powered in the Nissan even with ignition off. The Nissan harness is: X X B X X WG X X X RY WG = White-Green Stripe RY = Red-Yellow Stripe
Dave57
There were also some Nissan 06/07 mirrors that did not have an internal jumper in them. Sounds like you have one. Strangely enough they were the only ones that I've ever seen have a homelink range issue. I only found this out when shipping one of the mirrors out with a new harness. Just before I ship a mirror I clear the test homelink codes, set the compass and put it in calibrate for it's new owners. The homelink doesn't work in them when that issue occurs. The mirror plugs pin positions read from right to left from the back. numbers 10 and 6 are stamped in the plug. Number 1 would be above #6 and #5 above #10. Most of the mirrors have an internal jumper connecting pins 1 and 10. The Subaru mirror plugs feed switched power into pin 1 or 10, it in turn gives the mirror homelink only with the key on. Then there is a jumper wire in either pin 1 or 10 that goes to pin 6. power to pin 6 will enable auto dim and the compass/temp (depending on what the mirror can do). On a side note all but the map light mirrors can use pin 3 or 8 for a ground.
Drogos
just got myself gntx 536 and OEM harness to run exactky into the same issue. You mentioned: 2 pink wires to black (constant 12V?) So do you have power in the mirror all the time, even with ign. off ? I actually prefer SUbaru approach with mirror working only with key in the ing. My guess 2 pink wires to the black/white cable than?
