Horarik
So I just bought a legacy GT with 61,000 miles on it. I saw in the carfax that it has engine work done around 59,000 miles. I had noticed in the carfax that it seemed they were only changing the oil every 10k miles or so. I called up the dealer that did the work and they told me they put in a new motor and turbo in. So my questions are..... What do I need to do with this motor to keep it going for a long time? Should i be driving it gently to break it in? I know to do oil changes at 3750 but should I be running just regular oil? When can i switch to synthetic? I do plan on getting the oil changed next week (unsure of what kind to run) and checking the drivers side banjo bolt right after. So far I have a drop in filter, tranny cooler, HIDs, front lip, and window tint on the way. :-)
ehsnils
You can go synthetic right away - no problem, as for the rest of the oil questions see: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/clearing-up-all-oil-info-79800.html
rock2534
Drive/treat it like you would any car you just bought, new or used, with common sense. The new engine has 2k miles on it already, I'd say it is broken in, have the oil changed regularly and you should be fine. There is no secret to owning an LGT, I still use the subaru oil.
