Z Car Club Track Day 5/23 @ High Plains Raceway

High Plains Raceway is finally ready! :)

ZCCC's first track day of the year will be on 5/23 at HPR. HPR is a brand new 2.5-mile track about 17 miles east of Byers. There are bunch of info on their website if you want to check it out.

Now for the bad news. Since the track itself costed $3.5-million to build and they are still trying to raise money to put in some facilities, track time is a lot more expensive. The cost for non-member will be $150.

Yup, tech inspection will work the same way. We are STRONGLY encouraging people to get it done early as oppose to wait until the track day. Since it's the first time we will be at this track the crew is going have to spend some time figuring stuff out and would rather not be doing a bunch of tech inspections on that morning. Miata club is actually doing the track day with us so they are suppose to take up ~20 of the 50 slots.

I'm especially interested in trying out the "Prairie Corkscrew", it's supposely modeled after Laguna Seca's famous Corkscrew. All the elevation changes are going to make it very challenging and/or scary track. :)

Enthusiast you got them on Tire Rack didn't you? I ran the RE-01R's on my 350z at the track half a dozen times - great dual purpose tire. Tons of grip but when they let go they can be pretty hairy - just don't push them too hard...

I bought 2 sets of them for track stuff myself...

Yeah I called Luke directly to get the last set in the country. I currently run these as my summer tires already. The only complaint I have is they are a little loud.

I re-read your post about breaking loose. You have AWD now. Seriously though I like to drive hard but not past my driving ability.

I am almost sure I will go to this one instead of the Subaru one in November. I just got a set of RE01Rs on a smokin deal!

Is Flatiron doing another Subaru track day this year? Are they doing it at Highway Patrol Track or they moving to High Plains Raceway too?

They are starting to post in car vids. The track opened for lapping days last week and have since been open to motorcycles. This weekend the MRA has the track.

Check youtube and the scca forum for other vids.

If you do plan to join the z club track events, make sure you get your car teched before coming to the track. If you don't it's $10 extra.

The newsletter has the dates and times for the tech days.
