Bob S.
I had a front strut break on my '98 Legacy the other day. After installing the new strut I now have a "clunk" when the wheel is turned in either direction. It's the same sound I've heard in the past with a bad strut. Can anybody give me an idea what the problem might be?
bpc8bpc8
front sway bar links? -- it's the short connection between the front sway bar and the struts. the bushings wear out and you'll get a clunking noise.
Legacy05
Is the spring seated properly or is it tightened down correctly on top?

Bob S.
That gives me a few things to look at, thanks. The thing that bothers me the most about this, is that the noise is worse now that I replaced the strut. I thought we got everything back together ok, but maybe not. I've driven it a few miles with the new strut and it seems to be quieting down some. Anyway, thanks again everybody.
