jb80
I recently did my brakes, did it the right way, replaced everything short of the calipers. Replaced pads, rotors, hardware, even the slider pins. Regressed everything, and now they make noise only when the wheels not straight. Any movement right or left causes the noise. Its kind of a metal scraping noise. I checked when it was jacked up, and the bearings seem to be fine. I know I have an inner tie rod that's worn out, but I'm bit sure how it could cause that. Anyone have any suggestions? Edit - front brakes. 99 LGT
jav2.5
Maybe it's your backing plate rubbing up against the rotors.
jb80
I thought about that, but would turning affect that?
jb80
Noticed today, three rotors are nice and uniform, while one of them looks like this. It was also much warmer than the others. I guess I'll be taking that wheel off later. http://imgur.com/yIpKC00
jb80
It seems as though that wheel bearing is SHOT. Is it possible the worn inner tie rod could have caused the bearing to go out? Maybe vibration?
KNS Brakes
Is the caliper seized? And FYI for others - remember this thread where the back plate 'swells' with rust http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1269334&highlight=find+an+answer
jb80
I actually found where it was rubbing, it seems the wheel bearing let go, and the rotor was scraping on the caliper bracket. The caliper seems OK otherwise. I have a new bearing coming, so hopefully that fixes it. I really just need this car to make it through the holidays, it's quickly becoming a money pit with 180k on the odometer.
