BAC5.2
I like it! Are you going to black out the rest of the chrome? Why can't you debadge it? pipi135
Thanks Hmm idk I could do it and see what it looks like. since Im using plastidip everything is reversible. I honestly don't know. He's pays the insurance and threatened to make me pay it if I took em off which I can't afford now
end0
Threatening to take that away for just a debadge is a little ridiculous.
pipi135
yaa your telling me haha but nothing i can do about it. there would probably be bad ghost letters anyway :/
NWSPECB
Couple of minutes with rubbing compound and it should go away.
BAC5.2
Or clay-bar. Mine went away pretty easily. I'd ask him his motivation for not letting you debadge it. BAC5.2
I can't figure out why your dad won't let you take the badges off. I can understand not wanting to do real mods, but debadging? Does he understand that the letters are just stuck on with two-sided tape, and that the badges can be purchased and reinstalled down the road for under $50? pipi135
I don't know I think he thinks it is gonna affect it's value or something. But it's an r-title already so id get next to nothing for it anyway. Not like I was planning to sell it any time soon. Ya he knows all that. I was actually planning to use the 'Subaru' on my grille once I got around to modding it but he still wouldn't let me
BAC5.2
Not much you can do then. Shame he won't let you make the car your own, but I'm sure he has some reason for it. pipi135
he hasnt cared about the other things ive done to it and didnt say no to some other ideas. it seems like debadging is the only thing that he wont let me do, idk why but he wont:confused:
BAC5.2
Well, if he won't let you then he won't let you. I think the black badges looks awesome! I'd try it on the chrome strip, too. I've actually thought about painting the chrome strip on my hatch black, but don't want to go to all the trouble of taking the hatch apart. Did you just tape off around the badges? pipi135
ya i might try it once i get another can of plastidip yepp taped off around the badges and sprayed em. the excess just peels away and you just have to get in the small parts. i sprayed it on too heavy and it peeled up on part of a couple letters so im gonna redo it with lighter coats next time
BAC5.2
Hmm, might be worth a shot on the chrome strip on my hatch then. ssbtech
Hell, I'd leave the badges if my car was paid for by someone else and that was the only stipulation
eldiablo
I like the black badges better than a de-badge. I also like the fact that you respected your father's decision! My VB Garage... Pumping the air back into despair
pipi135
haha good point! i paid for the car btw, hes just pays for the insurance like he has/is for all my brothers ya they dont look bad, starting to grow on me more
BAC5.2
OK, that makes less sense then. It's your car. Removing badges won't do anything to alter the insurance of the vehicle... pipi135
Yes it does. If you search YouTube there's plenty of videos showing how easy it is. I think there's a guy that did a whole sti! Edit* it's just the hood but still shows it being removed
RailKill
Looks good. I did the same thing a few days ago but used primer, gunmetal metallic, and clear. The badges were already off the car so it made it easier. It was a pain to try to get them straight when I put them back on though http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x430/cblakes17/2011-10-11173523.jpg
