typrice
Is it a safe assumption to say a down pipe off a 08+ wrx or a STI will fit a 05 Legacy GT 5 speed. the part numbers are the same from the Cobb website...
mwiener2
if the part numbers are the same, then they are the same part My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons

goneskiian
Yes, that's a safe assumption. Pre-'08 won't fit but '08+ will.

Drift Motion
I thought the 08+ DP fits, but needs a slight mod? Like the hanger location, and slightly longer

goneskiian
I thought the 08+ DP fits, but needs a slight mod? Like the hanger location, and slightly longer I believe that's for the PRE '08 WRX DP's. The newer ones are a direct swap.
m sprank
No modification needed (unless its a Megan, LOL). Sorry, could not resist. 08+ WRX and 05-09LGT MT share same DP.

underground000
Does the front shorty 08wrx downpipe fit a 5eat? Apart from the mounting tab, I think I saw the bend was different but want to confirm. 5eat downshift rev match:) Powder coated wheels: completed:)
fahr_side
The shorties are all the same. Look at the factory part numbers... same for 5MT and 5EAT. It's the next section with the 2nd cat that is different. apexjapan
2010 Legacy has the turbo mounted underneath, and a completely new exhaust design from turbo to tip. Pre-2010 Legacies (and every other model besides the 2010 Legacy) has the turbo mounted high in the engine bay besides the motor. Which is why exhaust pieces were called "up" pipe and "down" pipe on the older models. OMGAWD
thank you... so the dp won't fit but i hear the catback should be ok right?
SBT
I thought that the catback on all of the 2010+ (NA and FI) were different than the 4th gens. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
apexjapan
No - only a catback designed for the 2010 Legacy will fit. The closest relation to a 2010 Legacy catback is one designed for the 2008+ Impreza Sedan, but the hangers are completely different. Subaru redid nearly everything for the 2010 Legacy. Probably the best way to illustrate it is visually: 2005-2009 Legacy Sedan and Wagon mid and Y-pipe: http://www.avoturboworld.com/images/stories/2011/leg_midpipe/05leg_midpipe_001.jpg 2010+ Legacy mid and y-pipe: http://www.avoturboworld.com/images/stories/2011/muffler/2010_leg_catback_001.jpg The 2010 Legacy has a longer pipe in general. BAC5.2
It won't, and that's a shitty downpipe anyway. BAC5.2
Like what would need to be done to make it fit? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 You'd have to throw it away and buy a pipe that fits. It takes "some work" to get a random assortment of straight pipe to make a custom DP, too.
