05 Legacy Audio FAQ Compiled from board

I'm not sure if my aux board is worthy of FAQ'ness, but your first question addresses 2.5i owners & says there is no replacement faceplate available. It should probably be updated to include the Metra dash kit for manual climate control owners. The kit is part # 99-8901, runs around $65

where they ever? I used to sell them......errr.......I used to demo them and then sell the Quarts. I still have two pairs my garage (for sale) ;)

so who is the top dog now a days for car fidelity?

CDT, Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Focal, Dynaudio...the usual suspects with only CDT being new to the scene.

The Hex series were nice, just pricey and no appreciable benefits over the Quart and Bostons I used to sell.

Just to let everyone know... The Clean Sweep uses some pretty cheap Molex style connectors that tend to fail, both on the circuit board and on the output cables. I've had one installed for about four months and have had several problems with the system just quitting on me. I'll go in and reseat the wires inside the Molex to get the system up and running again.

The installer was saying that he has had a few units where he had to solder connections to the circuit board to ensure a decent connection.

I'm also having grief with the remote out to amp turn on not turning on the amp. We put in a relay that seemed to work for a while, but currently I'm running silent.

Other than that, when it's working the sound is phenominal. I've got it running into an old Alpine V12 MRV F-400 Amp going to Quarts front and rear. I picked up some mounts from ProClip USA and took out their dock cable and replaced it with a Belkin F8V7058-APL that allows for charging and audio input to the Clean Sweep with very good sound. When it's working.

If I come up with any permanent fixes, I'll post.

anyone put a double din in the cubby hole? I am thinking about buying a LGT and I would like to keep my double din kenwood headunit. Has it been done or is there enough room? sorry for the newbie question thanks in advance

I have not seen anyone who has managed to install a double din in the cubby area yet.

I'm trying my hardest to fit the Kenwood in there. It's not a money problem though. There is a steel beam running right to left behind the cubby. The single din conversion piece places the HU just above it, but a double din (ala Kendwoon DDX) looks like it will not clear it when mounted flush.

I'm going to try and build a mock-up and see if mounting the HU more horizontally will work. this will cause the screen not to be flush with the bezel in the off position, but when turned on, you should be able to adjust the screen tilt to compensate.

I just think the factory location, which has been done, is too low for a double din screen.

ignore him, he'll go away.

Anyone know what the dimensions are underneath the back seat? I am looking to install a sub and/or a few amps there. Don't really know if there is enough clearance underneath there. My old Acura didn't have more than 4 inches of clearance, but with my Lincoln you could put a cooler down there. Not quite, but you get the idea! Thanks!

I'd like to install XM or an iPod in my 05 OBW with climate control. I'm looking at:

Scosche FM-MOD01 Modulator

40SB10 & 40SB20

Ideally, I'd like to install both XM and the iPod, and I am looking at this passive audio switch:

Terk VS-4

It's kinda big, but I could probably bury it under the seat or dash.

I'd really appreciate comments/critiques/suggestions on this solution. I'd still have to choose what XM receiver and antenna as well as a cradle for the iPod, so I'd be open to suggestions for those as well.

Thanks,

Jeff

If you're having those kinds of problems, we would be happy to replace it under warranty. The failures you describe are not common.

There is no "easy" way to do it...

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21945&highlight=aftermarket one member managed to pull it off but you have an idea of what this entails if you take a closer look EEEK

Simply put there is NO plug and play solution to replacing the head unit without just bucking up and using the cubby install..

It all depends if you have a auto climate control. if you have the manual climate control they make a dash kit.

seen this same thing on ebay a couple of days ago for 30 dollars. i have not seen one for the auto climate control though. i have seen other forum members make something that had the auto. but hopefully this will help.

OTM.

Sorry I didn't mean to start a war which mainly forum people is all about ;).
