Fog Light

FLASHMSTRC

Recommended Posts

I have a crack in my driver's side fog light lens that is distorting the output from my PIAA Ion Crystal bulbs...

Anybody know of someone parting out an LGT or have any advice on how to replace the lens? I got quoted a little over $250 at Farrish for a whole new housing...Thanks in advance.

It's not bad if you need the whole housing, but just for a glass lens?

yea, it sux, but you just have to suck it up.

once you get that replaced, get some Rockblocker. I got a set of something way thicker (Stongard, before they went out of business for copying 3M naming convention and rebadging the protective film to sell it without 3M's consent). Rockblocker is so damn thin compared to Stongard [hence why i bought Stongard in the first place) I knew it was going to be expensive to replace those housings, so I got myself some headlight protective film to place over it. It's perfect for track days. While you can't get Stongard anymore, you can still buy the protective film from a 3M dealer and cut the film out yourself. The product number should be 3W26X and 25M26X:

Here, you can see a pic of my messed up job when I applied it to the driver side headlight [at the corner of the headlight]. I was doing this in the middle of a 107F day, and I was getting lazy and lost concentration and ended up stretching too hard and making it mis-aligned. The other headlight and foglights came out perfectly. Oh well, not a big deal, it's a small price to pay compared to a $500+ headlight housing being broken:

Most Rockblocker stuff is around just 4 mil (or .04" thick or 1/24" thick).. the stuff I have is 2x as thick.. you can literally see the thickness and you can feel it if you run your hand over the edge of it. But no one will see it once it's on the car and as long as you dont point it out to someone.
