flatsphere
Hi everyone, I'm gauging interest in a light bar for the 05+ OB. The same light bar may work on the standard Legacy. This bar is in concept stage only and waiting on interest to begin production. The goal is to design a bar that will appeal to a broad range of owners and to keep the price around $250. Please excuse my photochop... but something like this. Cheers!

fighterfireku
How about a bumper and lights like this. I like the winch idea too. (Taken from JazzyMT) http://www.subaruoutback.org/gallery//500/9694jazzymt_modded.jpg

Regarding allocation of lights - these should be lifted upwards for better performance ( IMHO).
DukeTrout
Snorkel FTW! Jeez, we could actually use that around here right now. Salmon in the street! Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!
flatsphere
Hmm... I don't think a light bar will help... how about a hovercraft? Cheers!

Don't know if we can do much about the legality of using light bars. In my area, as long as your lights are covered during normal driving, you won't have issues. I'll be working on different designs and configurations. Cheers!

Spoonwacker
I'd be game if it fit Legacy GTs - especially if it could work with a skid guard for the front lip, like what Rally Innovations has for Imprezas, and the aluminum skid plate from RalliTek. I need something to complement my RallyArmor flaps I just had a fun evening in snow-covered grass fields and gravel parking lots, so you'll forgive me if I'm forgetting the Petter Solberg doesn't actually drive a Legacy...let alone an automatic... ~Zach sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.Team Pony Express POSTED FROM MY COMPUTER USING A WEB BROWSER
praedet
Make it easily removable and bolt-on w/o cutting and I am game Ted
Spoonwacker
I did some digging around with the search button...I found this thread, which links to this site, which sells big ol' bars that look mean and lift the lights up above the license plate mount. Personally, I'd like something a bit more subdued (I don't think the big fat bars suit the Legacy), but somebody may like these. ~Zach sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.Team Pony Express POSTED FROM MY COMPUTER USING A WEB BROWSER

Regarding the legality, I think he was talking about how the bar would obstruct the front license plate that about half the states in the U.S. require, not the issue of having offroad lights on your car. Personally, I'm like to find a bar that wrapped around and protected the front headlights, but was still not too big and kind of low-key. Still looking... Andyjo
If you're going to build a bumper.. you've got to go all out http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/postcave.jpg I've been thinking of building a little nudge bar for my OBXT to put those big lights on... maybe a little smaller tubing this time.. i went all out with the impreza... as you can see

Andyjo
For the OB i was thinking something along the lines of... http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=2427&d=1166134625 http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=2428&d=1166134635 http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=2429&d=1166134639 But.. thats just a quick drawing, of course i'd have to find some mounting points, and make some real measurements and.. it'd most likely be black
hifiandmtb
Why use a light bar? I did this: http://photos.all.id.au/ALBUMS/SJ_Whiteline_Control/IMG_0181.sized.jpg http://photos.all.id.au/ALBUMS/SJ_Whiteline_Control/IMG_6063.sized.jpg Much neater & cost me around AUD$30 to have the metal bent & drilled. The reason there are two parts to the construction (6mm steel painted black & 6mm aluminium) is that the steel brackets were off my GEN3 Liberty & the new IPF 900 lights needed to sit further out to clear the bonnet. The whole construction is very, very sturdy. Unless you brace that light bar, it's shake like a b!tch.
Spoonwacker
Mmmm....now I'm considering that setup, maybe with some of the new Hella Rallye 4000FFs on it... sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.Team Pony Express POSTED FROM MY COMPUTER USING A WEB BROWSER
