jproy12
Hey guys, I didnt really search, but how do you adjust the rear camber on the legacy with stock struts and lets say tein h-techs? I dont want uneven wear, so i know the front can be adjusted, but how do you adjust the rear camber? What do i need? JP
N.sane
You need aftermarket rear lateral links. I believe Perrin is the only available option right now. 4boxparts made nice ones but no longer makes them as far as I know...
Th3Franz
adjustable links. It's not as bad as the front, though. The main thing is to adjust the toe when you lower the car, which can be done with the stock hardware in the rear. FWIW, I haven't touched the camber settings in the rear, only the toe and my tire wear is fine. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
FPerron
Sure, but if you're tracking the car, you're leaving traction on the table unless you increase front and rear negative camber. I'm running -2.5 front, -1.8 rear. In fact, most DOT track tires recommend even more negative camber than this.
CDN 2.5i
hey JP - should have bought the Perrin lateral links I was selling... Perry picked them up. I'm going to run the 4BoxParts version in a month or so before I do my summer alignment. As Franz states - your rear tire wear shouldn't be bad with just H-Techs. The increased camber you get with lowering is not that significant.
Drew888
With my car I have discovered that -2.0f and up to -1.5 rear give perfectly even wear. Now I'm also at -2.5f / -1.8r and have noticed more inner wear on the front but apparently the rear seems, at a quick glance, to still be wearing evenly. BAC5.2
Whiteline part number KCA399. Done. No need for lateral links. I swear, some times I worry about some of you guys! And, in general, toe wears tires. Not camber. Plenty of locals run -3* with zero toe and get PLENTY of life out of tires. Toe wears tires orders-of-magnitude faster than camber will. jproy12
Bumping my old tread, got some Epic Springs in the mail! Has anyone found a way to adjust the rear camber? Is it even necessary with a 1" drop at the most? JP
Th3Franz
I haven't found a need to yet on street tires. I push the car more than 99% of people on this board. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz

jproy12
^^ that part number seems to only apply to 04 and older models, not my 06 lgt! So I don't really need any camber kit for this drop? JP
BAC5.2
I have it on my 09 OBXT... BAC5.2
Do you want to be able to adjust camber at all in the rear? Then it's necessary. jproy12
That's my question actually, is it really needed? If I don't use these, I assume ill have negative camber in the rear? Do I need it, that's the question! I'm most likely upgrading to swaybars, so might be worth it! JP
Th3Franz
You end up with slightly more than -1 degrees of camber in the rear depending on your drop. It's not enough to affect tire wear if that's your concern. You don't really need much more than that for street tires because of the multi-link design. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
wpmarky
WL KA399- applicable models: Subaru Legacy BL,BP 09/03-08 all Subaru Outback BP 03-08 wagon inc XT turbo http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail.php?part_number=KCA399&page=2 You can get -1ish camber on front and rear with stock bolts. I you want more, you'll need the bushings for the rears, or camber bolts/plates for the front. I ran -1.1 front and rear for my first couple track days, will be increasing that shortly when the new coilovers come in. For DD/spirited driving, -1 is good enough. jproy12
^^ that's the answer I wanted! So no need to get anything else? Just swap the springs and get it alligned after? Thanks for the links and info. JP
BAC5.2
Be aware, there is absolutely zero rear camber adjustment. What you get, is what you get. If you drop it, and you have -1.3º, then that's what you get. The KCA399 is an easy install, and relatively innexpensive. sheppo9
There is camber bolts in the back from the factory. They go in the rear crossmember, and the bent/banana shaped arm attaches to them. #2 in this picture; http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b13/type_17/suspension_and_axle/rear_suspension/illustration_2/ Yes the adjustment range is crap, but they are still there. BAC5.2
Isn't #2 in that picture the toe-adjustment cam? sheppo9
No, #2 is for camber, as I said thou, there is only a little bit of adjustment in them. If you want to adjust Toe, you need camber bolts (if they even fit?) in the smaller, front arm - or those Whiteline KTA124 (which I'm posting a new thread about 1 breaking...).
