stevenva
After using Plastix with good temporary results, I've decided to try Dvelup's headlight restoration system. I was looking for something more lasting. Its final step is a replacement UV coating. I'm keeping my expectations in check as far as longevity goes. I don't believe any UV coating for poly-carbonate is permanent. If they were permanent, there would not be dozens of headlight restoration systems on the market. Dvelup is the supplier for Sylvanias headlight system. They are probably the same. This is 3-4 months after using Plastix. The clairity is degrading. Here is a before shot. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/BeforeD_zpsc2ff8b7b.jpg Step 1 is to spray the supplied cleaner/prep solution to the lens, wipe off after 10 seconds. This lifted off some brown stuff even after pre-cleaning with glass cleaner. No photo of that. Progressive sanding comes next. This is after wet sanding with 400 grit. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Wetsand400_zpsab35fb93.jpg This is after 800 grit. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Wetsand800_zpsf2b335ac.jpg This is after 1500 grit. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Wetsand1500_zpsf7a36ccf.jpg This is after 3000 grit. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Wetsand3000_zpsc2074d30.jpg The next step is to polish them using the supplied polish. Here is after polishing. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Polish_zpseb1c9a46.jpg The next step is to apply more of the supplied cleaner/prep solution used in step 1. A close up image of the fine scratches which remained after this. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/MacroPostPolish-PreUVFinish_zpsdbfccc56.jpg The final step is to apply the UV treatment. Here is a close up after the UV solution has been applied. This filled in the fine scratches. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/MacroPostUVFinish_zps4569f1b1.jpg Done. The immediate results are great. I will maintain this post with updated pictures every 4-5 months to see if this product lasts. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/DoneFrontTagDelete_zps670c9952.jpg RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles

stevenva
Here are 3 photos after 1 year. There has been no sign of clouding. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Front%20view%20Plate%20obsq._zps3b2mcoal.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Close%20up%20drivers_zpsyjy4pc9a.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/smstavros/Headlight%20Lens%20Restoration/Close%20up%20pass._zpshn8evbr4.jpg RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles

Still, the pitting and nicks from sand, grit and rocks appears to be breaking down the surface. Is there a film that protects against that? stevenva
These are after about 2 weeks, (600 miles), of no washing. I should have cleaned them before taking the photos. If you're referring to some plastic clear film, no. It's final stage is a watery, self-leveling UV protectant which is brushed on. I found this stuff here: http://www.moddiction.com/weathertech/weathertech-lampgard-headlight-protection/h3804cw/i-1815299.aspx Has anyone tried something like this before the headlights get clouded, pitted and hazy?
