New from Illinois

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I am new here. My name is Chris, I am 22 years old and live in Illinois.

I just got a 1997 Subaru Legacy GT. It has a 2.5 L automatic transmission. I will be loading pics tomorrow as I do not have my camera (better resolution than my phone haha).

It needed a hood, windshield, and brakes when I bought it. I fixed all that, and now I just need to figure out a slight hard shift in first gear.

-well i took this to a transmission place and they replaced the c-solenoid. It drives better, and well still going ot do a rear differential flush.

Anyone got any thoughts?

So lets get to the good stuff here she is

Thanks Schreif Wolf, and Sdavidson. I wanna yellow the fogs, but cant find the yellow housings. Is it just down to the film now??

And thanks for the links, looking now

No problem man, as for the fogs i did mine with this yellow spray paint for stained glass, it adheres perfect and is durable since its made for glass outdoors, i got mine at a local craft store im sure you can find it somewhere.

Sdavidson, I shall be looking for that. I got to take my passenger side apart and clean it out (dirty inside).

And Isooby, dude you got a clean one. I wish mine was manual, but I got another car as a manual. I wanted something I could get in and drive and not shift lol

Went to Subaru for what I saw as a hard shift, and delay shift (P/R to D/P). Found out my transmission in general is going out. So $400 later I took car home. Now time to bust ass and get money and search for a place to rebuild and swap my transmission. I could do it, just dont wanna do it myself.

The delay going into gear is a seal in the back of the trans, pretty common actually. I'm a tech at a Subaru Dealership. Either it will have to come out and come apart anyways.

Ah, lol wish I could have found you earlier.

Well to help with the diagnosis it came to, the front end has a feel like its sluggish when turning unless I am on gas. They said it was the piston for from end seizing in the bore. That part of trans needs to be rebuilt

Then something about the rear diff starting to lock up and such. He said in short, " It is going to pretty much lock up on you sooner or later."

So far as I can tell new trans is needed right?

And I appreciate your input

I got some toys in the mail...cant wait to connect up the red hella horns...i just dont know how

Some threads say "need harness"...others say don't. I didn't get the subimods ones tho. I will be working on the connections over next day or so. Mainly concerned about mounting them.
