FishingFiend
:nono: No matter how alert you are, there's never enough time to get out of the way. Got plowed into by an H3 this morning. She said she fell asleep as she swerved into my lane and rear ended me at 8am! I take this as she didn't hit the brakes until my car woke her up. I'm bummed and waiting for the body shop to come back with some information. I'm hoping the experts here can tell me what to watch out for as they get to fixing? The body shop guy commented it could have been worse if she had hit me at an angle, but it's pretty dead on straight. I was going between 15-20mph when she crashed into me. You can clearly see the H3 bumper latch marks in the upper corners of my bumper. A testiment to American steel, the H3 was not damaged at all from what I could tell! Amazing to look at the H3 with no damage and how much damage the LGT sustained.

FishingFiend
I'm sore as I type this, but we'll see in the morning. She was like 18 and this was her first accident. I lectured her pretty good and consider both of us lucky. It could have been worse... I'm still pissed about it.
Penguin
Sorry about your accident. Did the H3 have a bull bar on it or something? I was out with a friend a few nights ago coming back from Rapid City when an antelope jumped over a fence onto the road, and we hit it. Friends truck has a brush guard/bull bar, didn't even scratch any paint and it flung the animal completely off the road.
Euclid
The damage will come in the form of her insurance premium hike.
Gmoe
Youch! That sucks. Hope you're OK and it all works out. I wouldn't say a testiment to American steel so much as her hard spot hit your soft spot. SUV vs. sedan no less. Most of that "looks" like was absorbed by the rear bumper and trunk.
BOXRPWR
JDM rear bumper.....and you "pain & suffering" is probably worth the value of a JDM front bumper too
Crawdaddy79
I am in the group of people that believe you should have to get a special license to drive an SUV or large truck. How do you fall asleep when you're behind the wheel of an H3? What kind of person does that?
Penguin
How do you fall asleep when you're behind the wheel of an H3? What kind of person does that? As opposed to falling asleep behind the wheel of smaller vehicles?

lawl
oof.. southern california drivers are why I do not ride/own/enjoy a motorcycle. people dont look before they changed lanes. The smaller your car, the better the brakes you need to have. i've had people change lanes right in front of my face.... if i didnt have ABS i would have gotten intimate with their rear quarter panel. got run off the road 3 weeks earlier. Lady didnt even know that it happened. hope you're okay. best get your neck checked out... a lawyer couldnt hurt either, could get some extra money. car for sale. PM me! c-lo
If you have a chiropractor or sports doc or pt, go see them. the sooner you get treated after an accident like this the better off you'll be. you didn't say how fast she was going, but after looking at the damage to your car, I'd definitely go get looked at. neck and back pain is not fun. I've run into alot of people and have helped rehab alot of people from injuries similiar to this. I'm working with a lady now who got rear ended by a BMW 745Li doing 100MPH as her and her husband exited onto a ramp. they were doing 55MPH. they MDX flipped on it's roof. she had an L3 compression and an L4 complete break. She's lucky to be walking today, had good care at the scene. I'm sore as I type this, but we'll see in the morning. She was like 18 and this was her first accident. I lectured her pretty good and consider both of us lucky. It could have been worse... one69chev
an 18 year old in an H3? that sounds like a frickin disaster waiting to happen, and unfortunately it happened to you my friend. or fiend if you prefer. hope everything get fixed to your specs and i would def get in touch with a good back/neck specialist. the last thing you need is a life time of pain and immobility after your car is fixed. best of luck...... B4LGT22
i had a similar issue when i had a 240sx, a yukon denali plowed right into me at about 30 mph while i was going about 5 mph. go see a dr right away for your neck and back pains. hopefully you won't have reaccurring pain in a couple of years. if you want to hire a lawyer so you can get additional money or try to get all the paperwork yourself and make a claim for additional pain and suffering. usually the other insurance company will try to lowball you. figure a reasonable amount and fight for it. glad you are safe. cars are fixable or replaceable but only one body.
