Bannonjr
98 Legacy L wagon 2.2 awd My bearing blew, so I'm trying to replace it, I bought a new hub assembly, but when I yanked it out..actually, I barely had to tug on it, it came out but seems the new is different from the old. There seems to be more bearings inside as you can see from the pics. As I looked and searched, it says to remove the "entire hub assembly" with 3-4 14mm bolts, but I don't got em..what am I missing? http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo138/Bannonjr/mobile%20uploads/IMG-20110422-00563-1.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo138/Bannonjr/mobile%20uploads/IMG-20110422-00564-1.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo138/Bannonjr/mobile%20uploads/IMG-20110422-00565-1.jpg
Bannonjr
Do I have to take the knuckle off, press out that bearing...etc?
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted April 23, 2011 I Donated Share Posted April 23, 2011 The whole knuckle has to come off the car and the bearing inside of it has to be pressed out and a new one pressed back in. Then use the press to press the hub (piece with the lug nuts) into the bearing -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." johnegg
go to a local salvage yard and get a replacement knuckle. cheaper and easier than rplacin g the bearing a tone ring. then when that bearing fails replace it.
Bannonjr
I already bought everything...well, hopefully everything but the tone ring..wasn't very expensive plus I can learn something new. Got a new ball joint and a tie rod end while I was at it.
