Hey all. For those that have seen my Celaru thread you know about the Legacy that I built. I never posted a thread just for it but shes on the lift getting some work done to her for this years upcoming auto X season so I thought it would be fitting to start one now.

I'll start off with some history. I bought the car from a guy on the east cost for 1500 and had it shipped over. It was a good strong running car but it a pretty bad rust bucket.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego01.jpg

I drove it like that and installed some parts I had laying around the shop from other cars I upgrade. Intake, Headers, Custom Exhaust, WRX Struts and Springs with a coil cut out and some 18x8.5 Falken Wheels on 225/40/18 tires. For exterior I did some JDM Headlights with I blacked out , and stock modified grill, and an EXO V GSR Wing.

So I drove it like that for a couple months but the dents, rock chips, rust holes were starting to get to me. Also the brakes were on there squeal tabs, the tranny was grinding in 2nd and the clutch was slipping so it looked like it was time to drop the hammer and tear into this thing. I had a full drivetrain (minus the engine) from a Ver 7 JDM RA Spec-C which got upgrade diffs and was pull out of a polish rally car from my old wagon that I was trying to sell but since I had it got ready to throw it in. I did some searching on the net specifically for some aggressively concaved 7 spoke wheels and found exactly what I wanted in the MB Battles 18x9.5 +15. However they were 5x114.3 so I bought some 06 STi hubs and some Stance LX Coilovers for 05-07 STi. Also due to their aggressive offset I obviously needed to flare the car so I was going to make something from scratch but I was at my buddies place and I saw this fender that had this perfect flare on it. They were off of a 89 Honda accord. So a trip to the pull-a-part and 80 bucks later for 2 pairs of front fenders and I had my wide body.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/lego33.jpg

Once I got the flares on and did some body work and drove it to my buddies for some custom bumper and paint work.

So for the front bumper I took the lower portion of a replica 02-03 WRX Zero/Sports bumper and then heightened the opening of the main air dam for eventually an intercooler.

For the rear bumper we grafted the exhaust and reflector portions off of an 09 Legacy bumper.

Once the Bumper was done it was time to make some custom dual tip exhaust.

So for paint I went with a ford color called tuxedo black. Also for some added flare I took some Di-Noc carbon look vinyl and covered the exhaust portion, the trunk, the roof, and did a rising sun pattern on the hood. Then we took clear and just the pearl that was in the paint so it would be a subtle look and so it wouldn't look like I was trying make it look like I had carbon parts.

So once the Car looked great on the outside I had to spend some work on the engine to get it up to par. Stuck with the same N/A setup I had for now but dressed up up.

So a few months after it was done the TOP SCOOB competition on NASIOC did a Top Legacy. I borrowed some 19x10.5 +32 wheels off a car I was working on a had some nice pics taken which got me the win for all 3 rounds.

So I started getting into Auto X as well and the car was pretty competitive. Took 2nd for points.

So just before that vid the stock engine in started to leak oil so I started making a custom turbo kit and swapped in a 2.0l WRX Block.

Its just a stock WRX TD04 but I am running a Tial 38mm gate so I can run 19-21psi. I am shooting for 260whp but super fast spool for auto X.

So now finally this brings me to the point of this thread. I got the turbo swap done but there where some issues. Up-pipe to header flanges leaked, EGR needs to be cut off and plugged on the mani, and many more.

Also I am going to be finishing my wire tuck, Swapping to a non ABS pump and tucking all my brake hard lines. Do some custom engine bay metal work to clean it up a bit. Got new sticker tires, adjustable control arms. 350z exhaust that's going to be modified and installed for my up-coming EZ30R swap this winter after auto X season is over.

So day one I got most of the disassembly done. I'll be starting on the Brake Hardlines tonight.

I should be making posts almost every day. My first even is mid April and I need to have enough time to get tuned and to ware my tires in so I am hoping 2-3 weeks tops to get all this done.

Love your work still. Can't wait to see how this all turns out after the ez30 swap.

Randomly semi-off-topic, how do you like the BFG kdw's? I just got a set to go with my new Rays wheels that'll be going on in a couple weeks. The BFGs were the only tires I could find in the size I wanted 235/35/18.

It's cool; I'm with the band

I wonder what it would cost to do some wide fenders on the Wagon...Hmmmm?

Oooooooh, +1

If I had the dough, I'd drop my wagon off to Johann for some Audi RS4 flares grafted on. Stock looking, but bulgy and mean at the same time.

And then some 18x10 underneath.

It could be done. Its just metal. I love my KDWs. I recommend them for sun, rain and even snow 100%. Also they have the curb savers so you get the stretched benefit with out that "pulled" look. If you look at other cars I have built I put them on all my cars. I just recently opt to get some new tires because I want a stickier compound for auto X and I don't drive my Lego in the winter since I have a winter snow attack vehicle.

I just recently did a Sedan Rear end on a WRX wagon How-To:

So I got some work done last night. I was looking at my intake manifold and all the work that it was going to take to get it where I wanted it and a buddy of mine walked in asking if I know anyone that wanted some WRX heads... So I am going to pull my motor and build a new motor using a 94 JDM Lego 2.2L, 02-03 WRX heads, and Intake Manifold. So my setup its pretty much ready for it I just need to swap my injector pigtails and I need to swap some wires for working with the WRX throttle body. This will get rid of my Idle Control and EGR leaking issues and give me a better running and looking setup.

So here are the changes to the build:

94 JDM Legacy 2.2l Closed Deck Block

02-03 WRX Heads

TGV Deletes

Sheet Metal Intake Manifold

550cc or 800cc Top Feed Injectors

Perrin Fuel Rails

Force Polished Coolant Tank

I got some pics of some more tear down I'll get them up in a few.

I have a JDM 6mt swap in my car. You can make them work w/o the tranny.

You'll need

set of 5x114.3 Hubs (08-11 STi)

08-11 STi Suspension

1 way:

Rear STi Axles

Rear Re-Geared STi R180 DIff

2nd way:

Custom Rear CV Axels

STi Rotors, Calipers (08-11)

Its costs money but can be done. Why you want to swap? They make plenty of good wheels for 5x100 these days. You can always get a dual bolt pattern wheel and rock 5x114.3 hubs in the front only if you looking for the stranger bearing for racing.

Older Legos are easy because they work with 04-07 STi and I already had the 6mt swap on 5x100 STi hubs so I just needed to swap to 5x114.3 and add some coilovers.

Haha hey some people give me way to much credit sometimes I think. The only reason I know anything is from 3 ways.

I read it online.

I tried to do something and my original idea was wrong and it took more time and money then it was supposed to.

I said ***k it and starting taking a car apart with nothing but and idea and the best intentions.

Its all about trial and error, and having the cajones to take a perfectly good car and pull its engine to make it faster or cut into the side of it to make it wider. Now I have enough experience so that I can make a relatively solid plan and hold to it without any issues. But it wasn't always that way. The day I started cutting the floor out of a perfectly good Celica with the idea that a Subaru drive-train would fit based on a few measurements was a good one.

Johann @ Girodisc

I should be getting the short block and heads tonight so I can look them over the make sure they are going to work for me before I order me some go-fast bits. I have everything I need for it picked out and I have to say this is going to be one of my nicest cleanest engine bays.

Wow, what a great build!

I regret not knowing you were in B'ham.

I've seen the car roll by a few times...the widebody really stands out.

And great spot for photo OPs...over there by the GP plant.

I use that place too..

I remember your truck. So sick! I used to see it a lot when I was driving my wagon before I even had my legacy. You used to talk to my ex with the Celica.

Anyhoo..

So the Block checks out. Just waiting on the heads. I took off the rear end last night so I could swap out the filler neck and emission box thingy with some I got of an 05 STi. I also got my pitch mount and lateral links yesterday so once I finished I am going to swap the dif CV seals and then re-assemble the rear end so I can get it back up and start mounting the exhaust.
