Changing rear mufflers - any advice?

I've just received a pair of nice STi Genome mufflers and intend on doing the installation myself tomorrow. Just wondering what sort of work is involved in fitting these (it'll be just the rear of the car on axle stands) and any tips/advice in getting these done.

They are reusable if they haven't turned into dust in the 7 years they have been on your car ;) Same with the bolts.

I'm not sure of the climate where you live, but if you see a lot of rain and any snow, things will be rusty. The gaskets will be rusty from the condensation that is in the exhaust system virtually every day.

Take a picture of the muffler to y-pipe joint and I will give you odds on how bad it is going to be.

Hey. When I get you photos of the joint, it means I've already started attacking the exhaust. :p

So it's all done. Nothing seized, but the gaskets were gone.

Need to get the hangers bent so the mufflers are straight.

Just out of interest how much did those STI Genome mufflers set you back for your BL5?

Was the only modification bending the hangers otherwise everything straight forward install with new gaskets?

Forgot to ask what do they sound like compared to the stock ones you had on. Performance gains?

Boosted earlier; on idle it wasn't too much louder but when I stepped on it, it was significantly louder.
