cmason100
Hello All, I'm new to the forum....I just got my 05 GT Ltd on wednesday and I love it. We just had our first snow here in CT today. Should I bother cleaning the snow from around the hood scoop? I'm not sure what happens if snow get in.... Thanks

Trent Bates
It melts.
:lol::lol: The snow will melt and drip into/through the intercooler. I don't know of anything underneath that would be harmed by melted snow. But, I haven't spent much time looking under my intercooler yet.
c_hunter
As long as the scoop is not blocked, you're OK. People go to great trouble to ice down their IC for autocross, so this is like a freebie. Craig
RobY
Just think of it as a free intercooler cooler. :D
Xenonk
just clear the snow off the hood in front of the intercooler so that the air can pass through and you'll be fine. If you have leaves on the intercooler from the Fall weather, remove them. Rain and snowflakes are good for the intercooler when driving ;) Keefe Keefe

firedawgs
if anything; it will keep the intercooler cooler. That is a good thing. Updated my vBGarage:

retslo
Actually it is a BAD thing in winter. You already have too-much torque to go around. It would be GREAT in summer though.
Alex1
i have a similar question, what if a lot of water, like a hose gets in there? also vandalism, what can they screw up by going through the scoop?
Xenonk
A lot of water, not a problem... a hammer smashing up the fins of the intercooler (or a bird) is a problem.. you dont want the intercooler to crack by a large object or extremely super cold water on a heat-soaked intercooler.. but usually, it wont crack.. but spraying tons of NOS will make it more prone to crack than anything.. (but it takes a lot of NOS to crack metal). Keefe Keefe

mwiener2
You should clear all the snow off your hood and roof before you start out anyways...That way, you don't stop short and have 3 tons of snow suddenly block your view and jam up your wipers, or worse, burn out the wiper motor.
