did subaru keep the same engine/transmission mounts in the 6th gen

Recommended Posts

subaru changed their engine mounts for the fifth gen legacy/fourth gen outback. im wondering if they kept this design in their newer cars. it'd be foolish to revert back to their old design. i wanna get a wrecked '15+ outback 3.6R and swap the drivetrain when my 2.5i with the shitty CVT dies. i want the 6cylinder so i can add a raptor supercharger and i want xmode. i don't ever wanna buy a brand new car again. mine is worth almost nothing now since i've changed so much.

not happening anytime soon, i figured they were the same. just wishful thinking. i already have 87k miles and im kinda hard on my car unlike most outback owners. ive already broken a wheel, an axle, and pretty much all of the plastic on the car. itll probably last a while longer. hopefully. some recent pics. http://https//scontent.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13620270_10205335041775681_4405464352612318996_n.jpg?oh=6aab196f8986527de7c3f4605df9b1b1&oe=584FDEC7

My sis has a 13 Outback 2.5i and I have a 2011 Legacy 3.6r. From spending a bit of time under each they look to be the same setup. The differences I see are from the top of the motor mount to the motor itself, not on the chassis. I'd see if you can find part numbers for the front subframe for each and compare. If you need a VIN to talk to the dealer PM me.

They're both 5th gens, of course they're the same setup. ;) 6th gen is 2015+

??? - Question

 - my head

Guess I need to work on reading comprehension, totally thought this was a 3.6r vs 2.5 question.

powertrain was unchanged for the 3.6R in 2015. In 2016 it was updated to be a CVT.

So technically it should work but you might have issues with other things that did change like wiring harness BUI, etc

a lot of the 5th gen parts are also useable on the 6th gen

I believe you're mistaken. In 2015 the subaru legacy went to all CVTs
