kvn5
HI I am about to pick up a set of Whiteline KCA399 rear camber bushings. Has anyone installed these without using a press? I was thinking either a C-clamp ball joint tool or DIY bolt and socket puller. Anybody have any ideas or comments or tips they can share? thanks a bunch. Justin case
If you have something the correct size the ball joint press might work. Either way make sure you set your alignment how you want it and make sure they're tight. I didnt get mine tight enough and they moved. I went to re-do my alignment at work yesterday and couldn't move the damn things at all.

kvn5
i was trying to avoid taking them somewhere but if a press is the easiest solution then i guess i better check some local shops. can the WL bushings be installed with just a C-clamp or vise? m sprank
Install can be done without a press. removal of OEM, not so much.
OutbackXT05
I actually just did mine the other day without a press. And they dont get much more stuck in than what mine was. You can see from my pics my car is all rust. I think the only reason mine came out with my bench vice is because it was painted neon hot pink for the added clamping force. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/rear-camber-adjustment-whiteline-kca399-install-188434.html
OutbackXT05
I honestly thought I was going to have to go to a shop and get them pressed out but I said screw it and just went for it. I was surprised I got them out with the vice and hammer. Didnt heat it up or anything.
lingling1337
Hey XT I looked at your guide, what size socket did you use to press the OEM bushing out?
OutbackXT05
I used a 15/16 1/2 drive socket to push it out. And a 1 1/4 inch 1/2 drive to recieve it. The 1.25 socket was a bit too small and got stuck in it. It was the biggest socket i had so 1 size bigger if you have 1 laying around.
Impulse
for future reference, I was able to get these installed with the arm still on the car and without a hydraulic press. I only used the advance auto ball joint/u joint puller master kit. This thread helped me figure it out! http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/kca399-install-car-and-w-o-hydraulic-press-224531.html?p=4804417#post4804417
