radio interference

When i have my radio on and i turn the rear window defroster on the radio goes completely static, sane thing happens when i plug in the car charger inside the center console. i brought it to my mechanic and he said its a problem with the Subaru imprinted radio. He said i could either replace the rear windshield or get an after market radio instaled under the dash. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem

The rear defrost lines on the rear window have cracks in them and the electricity is jumping and making static. You have to find where the cracks 1 of 2 ways:

 

1. Turn on the rear defroster and run steel wool alone the lines. When you see sparks, that's where the break is.

 

2. Turn on the rear defroster and use a infrared thermometer along the lines. When you see a cold spot, that's the break is.

 

To fix it, get the repair kit at your local auto parts store. One company is:

This problem is common on all cars.

for this kit would it matter the rear windshiled is tinted?

You would have to remove the tint to fix it. Winter is almost over. Just live with it

yeah thats what im gonna do this is the second winter ive had the car and the second

 

winter its done it. i think thats what im gonna just end up doing
